The Stereophonics' single "Dakota" was borderline 5 minutes and that charted very high indeed! Maybe even #1? So 5 minute singles do work if they're good enough and I think Lyla is good enough.

Actually the Dakota single is closer to 4 minutes, the end is chopped off from the album version. Btw Dakota is mega- my single of the year so far- and Stereophonics new album is top shelf.
As for Oasis singles, they often run about 5 minutes or more: Some Might Say, DLBIA, DYKWIM, Stand By Me, Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love?, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, all top 5 as well. Nothing new for Noel.
