I get really tired of people saying Oasis hasn't or didn't break America. I was raised in Vancouver and now live in New York, and from my end they have. I recently saw Franz Ferdinand get an award at the Brits, and the voice over said something to the effect of "Franz Ferdinand have truly made it over seas and not even Oasis broke America." No disrespect to Franz or other good british bands, but what other modern day British bands can sell out MSG. Coldplay and Radiohead are probably the only two. Morning Glory made them household names Stateside.

BUSTED , now here's a band that did NOT break america Thank your lucky stars, we had to put up with them for far too long. Then just as we get rid of them, McFly pop up. *sigh*

Oasis totally broke America. Sad thing is, is that rock critics are getting younger than me (I'm 35) and they don't remember. Oasis has sold close to 8 million records in the U.S. Maybe more.
DM-went Platinum MG-went 4 times platinum BHN went platinum
The last two albums plus FTM haven't done that well but combined have sold another 500,000 or so. The There & Then VHS went gold.
They have sold probably close to 8,000,000 records here.
Also Franz Ferdinand (buy the way, that album bar one song sucks!!! can't stand it)
Have not broken America. Neither has Stereophonics, Manics, Travis (should have but last album killed them) and Radiohead is finally starting to wane as there last 3 albums have been too 'out there' for anyone to understand. Coldplay did based on one song 'Yellow' and that allowed radio to then play the next album. That's how it works. Oasis had radio play with BHN, but when the backlash went in (the media are the main reason for that) they gave them no shot w/ SOTSOG.
Everyone in America wanted Wonderwall part 2.
Look at Oasis's concerts so far this year. I bet they could do a second night at MSG.
If they get a hit single (american radio probably won't play it though regardless) they will blow Franz away.
No one I know likes Ferdinand.

I missed the Morning Glory show at the Coliseum when Liam walked off. But I did see Be Here Now at GM Place. The only other West coat show I've seen were in California at Cochella and Vegas 3 years back.

i have talked about this for years,,and ever since ive been on this forum...yes they cracked america WTSMG sold more than both of COLDPLAYS records combined ..but because of there cancelled gigs, mtv didasters, and lack of kissin corprate butt ,they were basically blackballed from both mainstream radio and mtv, this is why there fanbase never grew and the media says they didnt crack america, but 4 million copies of WTSMG SAYS DIFFERENT

i'm a little pissed cos i was only 4 when morning glory came out and i dont remember them at all in their heydey, but i remember loving wonderwall and it actually was the first song i ever learned on piano. that was a while ago. 9yrs or so later, i rediscovered them and wonderwall was also the first song i learned on guitar... as far as i'm concerned, they broke america, and while their last few albums didnt do so well here, oasis is still a great band and i hope this new album is mega
