I was 8 and I had heard a few songs on the radio, and I mentioned them to my dad. Then for my 9th birthday I got a CD player and Definitely Maybe (which was my first album). Later in the day I bought WTSMG with my birthday money.
I then relized that Don't Look Back In Anger was by the same band, as I had only heard it at the football before.

In 1995/1996, Wonderwall was all over American MTV and radio. Strange times. Anyway, I didn't like it. I couldn't understand why everyone else loved this song. In a conversation with my female cousin I recall saying "How can you like that song? He sounds so whiny!" She subsequently bought WTSMG while I remained indifferent. Then one morning as I was getting dressed for church I heard this amazing chorus coming from my television. I looked and who did I see but Noel Gallagher, guitar in hand, singing "So Sally can wait..." Awestruck would be an understatement; I was blown away. My stomach tightened while the hairs on my body stood on end, symptoms I attributed to unprecedented euphoria.
Later that day I purchased the album, got home, closed the door to my room, put the cd in the stereo, and listened intently. For the first time ever I was able to say I liked almost every song on an album. And that's when I got into Oasis. I've been a big fan ever since.

I was the same way PARTLYCLOUDLIKE. Being from the states I'd heard "Wonderwall" back in 1995 and that was about it. Didn't think much about it but when I saw and heard the video for "DLBIA" it floored me. I was 14 and have had Oasis as my favorite band ever since. I picked up the guitar because of Oasis and eventually started a band. I can honestly say that Oasis changed my life. BEST BAND IN THE FOOKIN' WORLD!

I remembere the Def maybe singles being released. but really got into them in 1996 - the battle of the bands when i was working abroad. I remember thinking how shit and simple Country house was and wondering why this spanish radio station kept playing it. (not that I dislike Blur - just that stupid fecking song) bought WTSMG along with my first sony diskman and then the rest jut followed. Now I don't prefer the studio albums - give it to me live and loud every time

i got into oasis when my friend first played me don't look back in anger. this was in january 1995, when i was 7, and i was already a beatlemanic... the intro, which i immediately recognized, instantly hooked me in. it's been a great 10 years for me so far.

Back in 1996, i was 7 and if anyone can remember to back then that was the same year "The Beatles Anthology" set was released, and my mum(RIP) and dad, being beatlemaniacs, thats all that they listened to and same with me and then i saw Oasis perform Dont Look Back In Anger on TOTP and i SWEAR it was the beatles, as noel was playing the same guitar john lennon (the black and white one).
I've always like Oasis in a way really, like ive always been in love with Dont Look Back In Anger ever since ive heard it, same with Wonderwall and i liked Heathen Chemistry when that came out.
But, I've been absolutley fookin mad ferrit when all the Definatley Maybe 10th Anniversary stuff was on, like every music channel was full of Oasis, so it was pretty much avoidable. Now they're my fave band ever, I don't think they're the best ever, but they are up there.
OASIS!! *clap, clap, clap* OASIS! *clap, clap, clap* OASIS!!
