GALLAGHER GIVES UP COMPETING WITH YOUNGER ROCKERS
OASIS star NOEL GALLAGHER has given up competing with other musicians because he believes it's time for someone else to dominate the charts.
The DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER songwriter, 37, feels he has reached his sell-by-date when it comes to creating popular music - and wants to now to focus on making albums that satisfy his creative needs.
Gallagher, who is set to release new material in May (05) says, "There's no point in trying to compete with 24-year-old punk rockers.
"At this stage we should be making records for us.
"I don't know how to put this without enraging LIAM but it's other people's times now."

I say if you're on top you should rule with an iron fist until someone good enough and determined enough comes along to pry the torch out of your hands instead of letting you pass it down to them.
Two years ago everyone was saying they should step aside for the Strokes, the White Stripes, and all these other bands. They all either broke up, fizzled out, or suffered a huge backlash and never recovered. Libertines? Out of the picture already.
He should just give someone one of his guitars and say, "You're on your own now, son. The big dog eats first and the little poncy poodles got to wait till he's finished."

Yeah i'd much rather have him make music that he's personally satisfied with. That would be alot better than making an LP that's watered down and catered towards fans.

Were they trying to compete with 24 year-old punk rockers in the first place?!? I fucking hope not. Talk about losing the plot if that were in fact the case. Coupled with Noel's bemusing concern about music critics, particularly during the SOTSOG and the HC years, the last several years of Oasis sounds very un-Oasis-like.
I miss the arrogance and recklessness of the early years. That doesn't mean I want them to remake DM or WTSMG because it isn't possible; that would be moving backwards. But the confidence in their music needs to return because I sensed they didn't have it when they made SOTSOG and HC. For that reason those albums, while very good, suffered.
