A MINIATURE parka for dogs - based on Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher's favourite coat - has become the ultimate pet present this Christmas.

The £9.99 pooch parka, complete with furry hood, has sold out at all 160 Pets at Home stores throughout the UK, just five weeks after going on the market.

Pets at Home chiefs say the celebrity-led craze for dressing pets in designer gear has led to an unprecedented sales boom.

In the same five-week period, animal-mad Brits spent more than £250,000 at Pets at Home stores on thousands of denim and sheepskin coats for four-legged friends.

Pets at Home spokeswoman Linda Whiting said: "We knew the pooch parka would prove popular with customers, but didn't quite anticipate this level of demand. The craze among pet owners to keep their furry friends in the height of fashion is driven by the growing trend among celebrities to style pets in the latest garments and accessories.

"With the trend set to continue, we have taken steps to ensure that pooch parkas will be in stock early in the New Year."
