this proves that nyc listeners (as well as most of america) have no fuckin clue oasis didnt have 1 SONG IN THE TOP 1,043 OF ALL TIME!!!. AND listeners voted, i voted all oasis tunes but it did no good. I SENT A PROFANITY LACED E MAIL TO THE STATION SO DOUBT ILL GET A E MAIL BACK ,,,, but it goes to show that here in america they dont play them on vh1 or mtv and classic rock dont feature them so its impossible for them to attract the wider audience they would get if the classic rock stations would play them. ASSHOLES

how can you blame a station for the votes its listeners sent in? however, let us remember when kalas and i petitioned q1043 to play oasis, they said something to the effect of... "while we'd like to play it, it won't appeal to most of our listeners", which means most listeners still want to listen to manfred mann's earth band's horrible version of 'blinded by the light' for the 47th million time.

hi bob, i'm an avid listener of q1043, and i've noticed that you guys have started playing songs by 90s bands such as stp, lenny kravitz and rem more and more often (sure beats the hell out of manfred mann's earth band, if you ask me). however, one band is missing from these great artists of the 1990s- oasis. let me state my case:
in 1994, oasis' debut album, definitely maybe, sold more albums than ANY of the albums ever produced by the beatles, the greatest band in history.
uk's q magazine has recently named it (i'm taking exact words for this one) "the BEST british album EVER!" (it beat revolver, which got #2- and this one was not on fans votes).
uk's vox, uk's q, uk's new musical express, and mexico's pure pop magazines all named it the best album that came out in 1994.
when they released 1995's (what's the story) morning glory?, oasis became the biggest band in the world. during their 1995-96 tour, their 2 shows at london's earls court were the two biggest ever indoor shows in the history of europe. in 1996, oasis played to a quarter of a million people at knebworth- the biggest audiences in the uk for any show headlined by a single act, EVER.
they sell out every time they come to new york, and have been since they played their first ever american concert at the wetlands in 94.
for these reasons, oasis should be given their long due respect and should be among the bands played by q1043. (songs like 'money for nothing', 'blinded by the light,' 'at the edge of seventeen' and 'ramblin man' get very, very monotonously boring, trust me, a listener who listens every morning- please give it a shot)
also, if you want extra evidence, noel gallagher, the guitarist/songwriter/genius co-wrote a song with bono on u2's new album 'how to dismantle an atomic bomb.' the song is called 'one step closer'.
thanks for your time.

HERE'S THE RESPONSE!
First of all, I agree. Based on their sound and their inspirations, they are compatible with classic rock.
Here's the reason we don't play them: our audience isn't quite as hip as you. The concensus is (yes...we actually research this!) that Oasis doesn't belong.
Thanks for YOUR time!
Bob

but the listeners for the most part aren't hip. that's why they play lenny kravitz and nirvana. my next point: mods forever!
