Well I've been only a minor Oasis fan for years like everyone else on this planet until about 2003. Before Oasis, I went through periods of religiously listening to Beatles, Van Halen, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Jane's Addiction, Guns and Roses, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2 and alot more. However, once I got huge into Oasis, everything else seemed so unexciting. Nothing could compare with these lads. Now, by this time, I usually get sick of a band and move on to something else and the cycle begins again. However with Oasis its like an addiction, I wanna go to something else, but I keep going back to Oasis! No other music ever matches up!

Same with me.....it started in 1995 and whenever I go to another group I keep coming back to Oasis. Nothing ever matches up to their music. Yeah and after almost 10 years of non stop oasis you think you would get sick of their songs but it still sounds fresh to me....especially thier live stuff! Sad but true....

the thing with OASIS IS they havent ruined music 4 me but they have ruined new music. ever since they came out ive been MADFERIT and whenever new bands come out i compare them to OASIS(LIBERTINES,FERDINAND BRMC) and while the are ok they dont get me into music or the band like OASIS. BUT i can always listen and love the old band like beatles, who, jam, clash, stone roses, because not only are they great but u can hear where OASIS got there inspirartion which is cool if u love music

When i was about 14/15 i got into oasis, im now 23. Until i was about 19 i just coulnd get into other bands at all, nothing compared to oasis. However, my musical tastes are now alot broader and I am into lots of other bands, but I always come back to oasis. I give credit to the strokes for really getting me back into guitar music again as i did start to lose interest. Ive now got into other bands that are great in there own right. For example the blueskins, bought there album abit ago and they really are a hidden treasure, ive banged on about this band on here for a while and no-one has really taken much interest. Check out www.theblueskins.com, although the songs on their website are from their first EP and not album, i feel that the album tracks are alot better than the ones on their first EP.

Yeah see what ur saying, one of my mates likes oasis but his fave band are the stone roses, I like the roses myself but theres just something missing for me, cant put my finger on it, theyve got great tunes, great lyrics, ian brown got a beautiful voice, great musicians but for me theres just something that makes them fall short of oasis.

Don't u think its pretty weird that I'm mad on Oasis, but the only other band I listen to is Keane!
Anyone else like them? Hopes & Fears is the album of 2004.

well i already have all major beatles releases (please please me to abby road) and have pretty well memorized every sound on them all. As for the stone roses I have the first one and have pretty well worn it out (i was into stone roses before oasis). Blur is another big one. I have tried to get into REM but not a big fan of michael stipe. they have some good songs but they're too boring.

I used to feel the same, but this one day i was listening to them and it all just clicked. I fucking love it when that happens. I love every song on the first album now. I wanna be adored and i am the ressurection ive always loved but i didnt like the others as much before but i do now. Oasis i will always love, they got me into music, got me interested in playing guitar and once i started playing it made me appreciate alot of other bands a whole lot more. Theyve basically changed my life but i do prefer the roses now.

The Roses debut album is as near to a perfect album as you're ever gonna get. They could have had it all but they fucked up. The first two Oasis album are absolutly amazing. The only reason I'd say I prefer Oasis is cos they came out when I was a kid and just getting into music.
The Jam are a mega band to get into. As far as new music goes get your self a copy of The Killers album Hot Fuss and Kasabian's debut album
