When will they release one? It will be the most successful album ever to grace earth!!!
I know they have released albums with the best tracks from their gigs, but I don't like them albums.
Also, what would you suggest would be on their "Greatest Hits" album?

yeh greatest hits generally come at the end of a career.

I could never really have an oasis greatest hits cause they are always the singles only and so many of my fav.songs are not singles. plus every album they put out is just another greatest hits to me, I don't have any but one song that I don't really care to listen too. (little james)

i still wouldnt want them to release a GH compilation cause like "maketradefair" said it usually means the end of a bands career or at least the end of there creative period cause if they could write new tunes they wouldnt need a greatest hits package,so lets hope we dont have 1 for a long time

First of all, there are some questions. Is it one-disc? Two discs? One volume or two volumes?
Let's assume one-disc, one-volume greatest hits compilation. By default, it will heavily tilt towards the DM/MG-era tracks. A two-volume series would have one volume of DM/MG/BHN-era tracks and one volume of SOTSOG/HC/Album 6-era tracks.
Let's go with a one-disc compilation. Songs being considered for the album would include ALL singles and popular, famous album-tracks and B-sides. Let's assume that any of the following songs would be up for consideration:
Definitely Maybe 1. Supersonic 2. Shakermaker 3. Live Forever 4. Cigarettes & Alcohol 5. Rock n' Roll Star 6. Slide Away
(What's the Story) Morning Glory? 1. Some Might Say 2. Roll With It 3. Wonderwall 4. Don't Look Back in Anger 5. Champagne Supernova
Be Here Now 1. D'You Know What I Mean? 2. Stand By Me 3. Don't Go Away 4. All Around the World
Standing on the Shoulder of Giants 1. Go Let it Out 2. Who Feels Love? 3. Sunday Morning Call 4. Gas Panic 5. Where Did it All Go Wrong?
Heathen Chemistry 1. The Hindu Times 2. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 3. Songbird 4. Little By Little
Non-album Tracks 1. Whatever 2. Acquiesce 3. The Masterplan 4. Fade Away
So I propose the following tracklisting:
1. Rock n' Roll Star 2. Acquiesce 3. Live Forever 4. Wonderwall 5. Where Did It All Go Wrong? 6. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 7. Supersonic 8. Whatever 9. Slide Away 10. Some Might Say 11. Go Let it Out 12. The Hindu Times 13. Don't Go Away 14. Cigarettes & Alcohol 15. Don't Look Back in Anger 16. Champagne Supernova
You'll notice a few things. Number 1, a few key songs are missing, notably Shakermaker and Roll With It. Also underrepresented are the BHN singles. In fact, NONE of the true BHN singles are issued on the album.
Alternate tracklistings could substitute shorter edits of All Around the World or D'You Know What I Mean or Stand By Me in place of Don't Go Away. Some may cut Whatever, although personally, I think the song needs to be issued on a full album sometime. Additionally, SOTSOG is underrepresented.
Also, no place for tracks from the next album. I can't imagine what they'll sound like, so just assume 1 or 2 more tracks will be on this compilation and insert them wherever, although possibly one or two songs may have to be cut from the above lineup in order to fit it within 1 disc.
If this were a 2-disc or 2-volume set, this would be a little easier
Volume I 1. Rock n' Roll Star 2. Acquiesce 3. Live Forever 4. Wonderwall 5. Supersonic 6. Stand By Me 7. Fade Away 8. Whatever 9. Some Might Say 10. Don't Look Back in Anger 11. Don't Go Away 12. Cigarettes & Alcohol 13. Slide Away 14. Champagne Supernova
As for Volume II, I can't think of a proper tracklisting, but it will probably include the following tracks:
Go Let it Out, Sunday Morning Call, Where Did it All Go Wrong?, Gas Panic, The Hindu Times, Little By Little, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, and between 2 and 4 tracks from the next album. Perhaps a couple good b-sides like Idler's Dream.

Ive really understood why bands bring greatest hits albums out anyway. I mean surely the fans of these bands would have these tracks anyway!?!?!

also think it always means an end to band or just a couple more of years with no new songs, and we know that we don't need that.... but in any case I really liked SlideAway's track listing...
