although Ricks name has been mentioned a lot in connection with the Los Angeles recording sessions he has never been confirmed as the current producer and is actually working with other clients in NYC at the moment. He seems to have been involved more in the beginning stages as the band decided to come to the States to complete the album...

i'm not really sure mr rubin has ever been involved at all... it all just stemmed from an only potentially valid quote that supposedly came from someone who is not in the band and bit of a jokester... but who knows.

Isn't it Dave Sardy who's producing the album?

it would seem so, though no one has confirmed this - noel mentioned his name recently, though he didn't actually say if he was the only person they were working with, and dave sardy works alot with rick rubin so........ personally hope rubin is doing it - as ian brown said, they should get RR and make the ultimate rock album

oasis and hip hop does seem like a pretty weird combination... but it is kind of interesting at least to me to remember that some of the drums in 'dyer know what i mean' were taken from some NWA song. i can't remember if noel said they actually used the sample or if they just completely copied the sample and had alan recreate it... interesting how they've taken to using drum loops whilst playing live.... (dyer know what i mean, force of nature) and fuckin in the bushes almost sounds like a sped-up hip hop drum track even though it is pretty obviously lifted from jimi's "little miss lover".... (that is the most flagrant theft noel's ever done i think--- right up there with the 'imagine' intro to don't look back in anger)
as far as rick rubin goes, i'd be more uncomfortable having oasis mentioned in the same list as system of a down, slipknot, danzig, and slayer than i would with the hip-hop association. i mean, i'm not really a big fan, but i still really respect those first few beastie boys records, for instance. they were really sonically interesting i think
also, in case no one's mentioned it lately, dave sardy recently did The Thrills record (So Much For The City was the title i think)

they tried to get permission to use the hendrix sample but couldn't, so they had alan copy it instead. Not that that should make sense, but for some reason it does

Dave Sardy also worked on the Hot, Hot Heat album at The Village studios in LA, according to the internet. Hasn't someone already mentioned the theory that Oasis are recording there? Sounds like it could be a goer to me.

www.nme.com/news/109885.htm"We're working with Dave Sardy who done The Thrills’ album. We sent him a few tracks of this cobbled together stuff to mix and he sent them back and it didn't sound right so we said ‘Why don't you come over and we'll start again?’, so we've completely started from scratch bar one song that has been finished for the last, I don't know, ten years."
