Do ya remember "Whatever" ? It wasn't released on any album. It was released between DM and WTSMG. It brouhgt Oasis in the spotlights just before WTSMG. So everyone could see Oasis on TV and hear them on radio, while people waited for the next album. Good fun for the fans, and good for the commerce of Oasis.
Now we are waiting a long time for the next album. Would it be a good idea for Oasis to release a song before the coming up album, just like "Whatever" ?
what's your opinion ?
cheers !

most bands do that. for example, i bought the ep the hindu times a month and a half before heathen chemistry came out. they did the same thing with go let it out and d'you know what i mean before sotsog and bhn.

wouldn't it suck if the lead off single was meaning of soul or a bell will ring?
that would be a complete bummer for oasis fans...not only because they are older songs (I think we've all heard them and played them enough times to be sick of em), but because they are summat mediocre.

nobody forced the person to bootleg those songs and then put them on the internet for people to download. equally nobody was forced to download them and spoil themselfs the exitement of a new song. apart from that, those songs where in my oppinion just rough drafts of the songs themselfs. when i first heard hindu times at the empire gig and later downloaded it it sounded nothing like the studio version.

I agree that Whatever was a great musical moment. If Noel had wanted to replicate it he could have easily used 'stop the clocks', which has been 'in the can' for months and seems to have, by his admission, a touch of epic in it.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the days of x-mas gifts like 'Whatever' and buried b-side treasures like 'The Masterplan' are over. The powerful near magical coupling of Some Might Say and Acquiese as double A-sides morphed through history, shaped by diminished effort and need into the turgid double toss of Little By LIttle and She Is Love.

Yeah, actually i did work at NME but they fired me when they found out that i stole many of my best ideas from the beatles.
In between jobs i found time to play for Man City. I did well, and in fact, lead the league in scoring until someone stole my playstation.
A few years later I found time to play some slide guitar on a Johhny Depp album. I wrote a song called While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It is a wicked song and i think that i am going to get Clapton to play on it. My brush with celebrity inspired me and I now work at a large firm that turns x-file instrumentals into lead off singles for aging monkey men.
Last night i invented sliced bread and tomorrow i am going to write Hey Jude.

holonecho you're right my earlier post which said you could be robbie williams was below the belt, so i take it back and ask forgiveness.
Also after re-reading your earlier post i think you do make a fair point... Little By Little was abit of a cop-out single in that we got nothing new from it. No amazing B side just She Is Love from the album and My Generation which the band seem to have made their own and sung forever. If that was your point then fair play to ya!
