There was never an official statement from Alan himself. Rumor has it that Liam and Noel did not think he was doing enough for the band. Noel has since said in an interview that Zak spends a lot more time around the band during the recording process , Alan on the other hand would leave as soon as his tracks were on tape.....

I think that Alan's brother Steve said in his site that the reason of his brother's departure of Oasis is that the brothers wanted full rights on the songs. It seems that most (if not all) of the drum parts of the songs were composed by Alan himself. We all remember that in the begining of the year two rumors circulated of Oasis' new drummers. One was of Zak Starr and the other of Alan's brother. Well, Steve White said that after this it's nearly impossible his involvement with the group whether it will be as a part-time or as a full-time drummer.
If that's true, shame on Oasis.

I think that after 1996 Noel wanted all the band to help him in the making of the album: he said it also in an interview before BHN. After SOTSOG he found that Liam could write good songs (and I think that Noel had done a good job whit Liam, cos he let him grow up slowly), and that also Gem and Andy could write and produce. I think that they wanted White to partecipite more, cos "after the album, they will view him just for the tour"...he didn't want so...I think that Noel wants a band of 5 people in which everyone can give ideas and inputs and help each other, it's finished the glorious time of "play what Noel wrote"...

common now shakermaker, there not some kind of fucking boyband, and also if they were pissed off with him not working hard enough, what good would it do getting in zak star, hes hardly putting in 100% with them, they've got a different session drummer coming in to do the recording of the new album, and he could'nt give a shit either.no i think there has to be something else , but we'll probably never find out. its a bit of a joke though at this stage of the game , how many new members have came and gone. theres something wrong somewhere.

I think jp is fucking right. I don't know really what's the matter and I think Whitey is a far gifted and proven drummer than Zak, but... this is my point. And probably for a couple of years we won't see Alan playing again.
That's some real fucked up shit. When Oasis members get out of the band - they're nobody... Alan White was for almost 10 years with the band and I think he did fantastic job. After he is out - he is now no one.
Oh, and here is one of Alan statements about being a member of the band:

despite that, I think that Whitey was smart enough not to fool around. If he was fooling around, he'd get the axe much sooner. After all Oasis are for 11 years on the scene. He was in the band for 9. He is as much as founding member of the band as the Gallaghers was. So, I really think that the reason is somewhere else... Besides all the Gallaghers statements, I still think that we have to listen to Whitey's version of the thngs and how they happened in his eyes. Whether, that will happen - I strongly doubt it... I like him and I was shocked of the news. I felt bad about that... But... it really doesn't matter now - life is going on, without him.

I liked him too.
I think it was just because of his whrist. hes got tentinitis or something like that. I think i just wasnt able to drum anymore. I dont believe he had a fight or something with on of the gallaghers.

he is a sound man, met him over in london, he came to a wedding that i was working at, he was totally down to earth, no bullshit with him, i asked him if he would put me on the guest list for an intimate gig in shepards bush, i explained that i would be unable to get a ticket because i had'nt got a credit card. he said no problem 1+1. can't get much better than that.

he wrote down my details, and got pretty pissed, but at the end of the nite came back to me and promised he would sort it. i ended up getting the sack from that job and had to come back to Ireland , and missed the gig, i rang the venue and enquired as to my name on the guest list and it was, it was fucking cruel that day at home, knowing that i could be at the gig with full access to everything, and everyone, but thats the way thing go.you got a roll with it

i had no problem going on my own to the gig , the problem was i had no fucking money, to go over to london, it would have cost me hundreds to get a flight and accomodation over there. i had no way of raiseing the cash and that was that, i wish i could have gone, everytime i hear something about oasis i think about this , it will haunt me for a long time, maybe i could be playing base with oasis now if i had gone and had a chat with noel. longshot, but still a shot

i saw a interview with noel awhile back after whitey was sacked, he said that whitey was the one who gave his copy OF HC out to the internet and that was the reason it didnt sell as mega as they hoped and LIAM AND HIM then decided to sack him. After that all these other stories about his not hanging around after he laid down his tracks startrd circulating.Dont know if NOEL was just takin the piss out of the interviewer or not but that would explain why he was sacked so abruptly if its true.

It's fucking pointless man. Why they didn't sack him waaaaaaaaaaay before the recordings at the start of the year for the forthcoming album. They could sack him after the recording of "Heathen Chemistry". There isn't much sense in this, man. Besides I don't think Whitey is a kind of person that would do it. I think that his tendinitis problem is the main reason, but... but who knows... I wonder how Whitey looks now...? Maybe after 10 years, slightly older...
