NYR i didnt mean U 2 has not come out with a album for four years I meant they have not done anything edgy or to me even good (by their standards) FOR YEARS,, like 1988 to be exact!

this is totally off topic, but since everyone is talking about U2, i should mention that on the new U2 album theres a song called 'one step closer' now, in an interview in the dec 2001 issue of spin mag, where u2 was named band of the year, Bono says that he's working on a song called 'one step closer to knowing' that he and noel gallagher had written together. thought u guys would wanna know that, when i bought the mag several years back, i nearly pissed my pants as u2 and oasis have been my fav bands for years; then when info on the next u2 album started coming out, there was no mention of the track, but yesterday u2.com posted the official album listing, and 'one step closer' was on there
cheers

The gaps between the albums are definitely getting longer. Doesn't it go something like this?
DM - August 94
MG - October 95
BHN - August 97
SOTSOG - February 2000
HC - May 2002
?? - May 2005

Yeah, but I reckon the longest one was probably the Morning Glory tour and they still managed to get an album out in less than two years...

no. but i wouldnt take the number of gigs into consideration:
pre-dm & DM > 130 gigs MG > 90 gigs BHN > 80 gigs SOTSOG > 70 gigs HC > 100 gigs

how could u forget masterplan? I didn't include The Masterplan because it wasn't new material and that's what we're talking about - how long it takes them to come up with new material these days.

Still I think they are debtors and owe us two new albums .
