I know it is derivitive of so many other songs
I know it borrows liberaly from the slide away melody and the dlbia chorus hook
I know it uses the same old oasis-cliches (stars fading away etc)
but when it comes on in the car i find myself constantly pressing the repeat button.
the song has magic no other song compares. (and i am a guy with over 2500 cds so i have plenty to choose from)
Any one else think so?

it can make u cry if u think about some one u lost or wateva.... but i just cant cry... but i can feel

I always skip SCYHO, always. I DO play it on my acoustic sometimes, when im in a melancholic mood or something. AND on my electric, I always play the riff at the end (D, Asus4, Em7, G) almost after every other song I played, lol. But I never listen to the song itself.
The feeling you describe, i have that with Lets all make believe...

Im not saying its not a good song, because I think it IS a good song... But its just.... dunno, i just prefer listening to other oasis songs to SCYHO. I do listen to the acoustic version though, but not much....

Its good, but it's only just the best song on HC and compared to Live Forever, Champagne Supernova and the other early 90s classics its good, but not THAT good!

When I hear the piano playing in SCYHO, I feel the same as you. Its a great song, one of the best songs of Noel.
He was really sad to write it. The best songs are written from the pain.

I disagree. Good songs can be about everything. I think a good song is a song that realy captures the mood or moment, whether its sad or happy, doesnt matter..

It is is a great, great song - definitely the best song on Heathen Chemistry and one of Oasis' best of all time in my opinion.
When I heard it it gave me hope that Noel still had it, although in interviews he described it as "very 1995, 1996" as though it was a bad thing to write a song that could compare to the stuff he was writing then!
Maybe someone should have a word with him...

Favourite song... Maybe it's the Noel's sung song Sunday Morning Call. Maybe his best song ever and for me the best on SotSoG. I even like it more than Magic Pie and DLBIA - other Noel songs...

You cant tell me that SCYHO was really written with noel in PAIN!! For fucks sake, it is a GOOD song but he put together a few chords and the words happen to go really well with it!! Songs like losing my religion are written with proper pain, or nothing compares 2U, not SCYHO!

Well, SCYHO is not the best song ever by Oasis, but it comes close to it. The best on has yet to come. I think SCYHO is the best song on Heathen Chemistry, much better then Hindu Times and Songbird or Little By Little. SCYHO reminds me of the Morning Glory days. This song is brilliant, and I hope Oasis comes up with a lot of these kind of songs the next album.
And I really don't understand SCYHO never has been a recordbreakin' No1 in the charts. The videoclip is shite, it doesn't has a story or message in it, and it doesn't present the "Oasis-feelin' ".

this topic should stop here.... it's a great song, but, it ain't top. there are two songs on HC alone that are better (The Hindu Times, BOADC) so let's end it here mates.... to each his own, but, if i was tryin to turn a mate onto Oasis, i ain't playin' em fuckin 'Stop Cryin Your Heart Out'.... nuff said.

it is a top tune but as it being the greatest song ever, nah the masterplan is the greatest oasis song ever.
i remember when i first heard SCYHO at the totp recordings that i went to back on 11 april 2002 and it was just amazing, liam sounded class and the song totally blew me away.

i had such wood for SCYHO that i was foolish enough to believe that it had a chance to perhaps resurrect some popularity for them here in the states (i even heard it on the radio a few times believe it or not) but again, its about timing. drag that fu*ker out in 95 and it would have been insane. absolutely brilliant tune. practically custom made for liams voice.
