Which of these songs, which all stalled at #2, should have gone to number one
Wonderwall, Roll With It, Stand By Me, SCYHO or LBL
(I think SCYHO-damn that world cup song-damn it too hell for keeping my favourite song ever from reaching its rightful place at the top.)
ps. where did Whatever finish-i'm having a brain cramp but a part of me thinks that it may have reached no 2 as well Help.
Conversely, which #1 song is least deserving of its lofty status
Some Might Say, DLBIA, DYKWIM, AATW, GLIO or HT
I'm tempted to answer that they are all deserving but since I posed the question, I am compelled to give an answer so i'll say...umm...well...
DAMN THAT WORLD CUP SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderwall should have been a number 1, ludicrous that Robson and Jerome kept it off the number 1 spot. Roll with It failed to get to number 1 because of Noel's Blur - Aids comments IMO, and Little by Little would have got no1 if it wasn't for Elvis!
As for the least deserving of a number 1 slot, probably All Around the World or Go Let it Out but both songs are good and better than the rest of the charts!

Least worthy of #1 - Songbird.

Least worthy of #1 - Songbird. songbird hasnt been #1 as it? and i think that wonderwall shoulda been #1. Not because its my favourite, absolutely not. But just because its the soundtrack of a generation. Maybe the UK soundtrack of the 90's. Least worthy #1 is IMO GLIO. To simple song, and only got up there because the expectations were skyhigh at that moment...

LBL was by far my fav tune off heathen chemistry however the single overall was crap with it being a double aside and all. She is love and my generation... please, i wanted new songs! So id say that stop crying your heart out shoulda been #1 for sure. It was a class tune and thank you for the good times and shout it out loud were each good enough songs to make the album.
The hindu times would have to be my pick for the least deserving of all the #1's, its my least fav tune of all the ones that made #1 and the bsides werent all that everyone made them out to be, idlers dream? cmon it sounds like noel wrote that one in like 2 minutes

it was the Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane-single in 1967, topped by Engelbert Humperdinck's "please release me"

I reckon Stand By Me was most deserving of going to number 1.
DYKWIM was least deserving of number 1. It should have been Stay Young (of course everybody already knows this).

SCYHO was held of Number 1 by the Elvis remix, not a football song. Little By Little was scheduled for release the same week as P!nk and outsold that 2:1, but they delayed it by a week and it was trounced by 2 people from Pop Idol. Stupidest decision ever.

The elvis remix was the 'theme' song for the 2002 World Cup.

I reckon Stand By Me was most deserving of going to number 1. DYKWIM was least deserving of number 1. It should have been Stay Young (of course everybody already knows this). I totally agree, dykwim is imo the worse (read: less brillant) song of the album. I cant imagine why stay is kicked off by magic pie. stay young shouldve kicked off DYKWIM...

Magic pie is shit at this point noel shouldve realised to stick to softer songs Yeah true, and i think that is also because of their drugabuse at this point, i think noel only wanted as much as loud guitars on the album as possible... Noel said something like that in an interview, that is was a cocaine-album or something like that, cant remember when...
