Rock N Roll was born – well, his version of it, anyway – when the label believed Love Is Hell too gloomy and thus shelved it. This Oasis cover gives you a hint why. Noel and Liam Gallagher could be accused of many things, but sleepiness was never one of them. Adams takes a stridently beautiful song – almost arrogant in its melodic assurance and minor-chord strut – and slows it down, gives it his typical hangover aura of self-pity and brokenhearted enthusiasm. To hear this version is to remember how cocksure the original was. In his own perverse way, Noel wrote this ditty to cheer up and provoke his lover; Adams merely wants to sedate his – or maybe just himself. Taking the song down down down, he never quite figures out all its dimensions. This proves once again that dumped guys never have the perspective necessary to make important decisions about art or anything else.

I think thats reading alittle too far into anything the Gallaghers write. They're both saying the same words. So the consequence of what they say would be the same. Adams figure picks, instead of strums the exact same song. He turns an already mellow song in a classic piece which i find alittle boring, to be honest. I find it funny when someone likes adam's better than the original, for the reason that they've heard it too many times and like to hear a fresh take on a song.

that review is crap! people interpret things differently and put their on slant on songs. ryan adams versions of wonderwall is beautiful and his vocals are increadiable. once noel heard adams version it made noel change it and he put a capo on the 3rd.

Adam's version of Wonderwall can't touch the original written by Noel, and to be honest, hearing Noel sing the song doesn't sound right either and never has. Like Bittersweet Symphony with Ashcroft, Wonderwall can only truly be appreciated with Liam on vocals in my opinion.
