from Oasisinet's forum admin , you know, that lousy one.....
Board Members and Fans:
The new look to the website is still ongoing as I've been told. As has been said in the past the three moderators of the message board and the editor of the Fans section on this site have no inside information from the band or management. We are only told what we need to know.
To my knowledge there is no set time as to when the site will be completed. So, any rumors that a re-design will coincide with an album release is just that . . . a rumor. The new look of the website will go up when it is completed.
As for the Fans section of the website, It is updated several times a month with new artwork, photos and reviews as they are contributed. The Fans section is not a "dead" section. That is readily apparent.
As for the Message Board, it is an Oasis Message Board and that is all. It has been that way since the onset and will continue to be so. There has not and will not be an off-topic forum. There are inumerable outlets on the net in which people can discuss other issues. This is not one of them.
The three moderators, all of which are fans and were picked in the past 3 years, do their job on a volunteer basis in their free time. They do so objectively and without bias. As they do not know any of the users personally, there is absolutely no reason why they would mistreat any users. There is no logic to doing so.
The Editor is the chief Moderator of the message board, in addition to running the Fans Section. It is the Editor's responsiblity to see that the board is properly cleaned up when necessary and remove offensive users. Contrary to popular belief, only 30 or so users have been "banned" since the boards creation in 2000. Some of those 30 are actually the same person, banned several times under different names.
So, why can't so many people post anymore? Their posting privelages have been removed and their access to the board blocked in some cases. Removing posting abilities is often times a more effective tool than banning a user.
No one has been intentionally banned or had their posting abilities removed for the wrong reasons. Of course, they'll say they did nothing wrong, but there is no incentive for the editor nor the moderators to block good users. Why waste time blocking someone who is not a problem? It's nonsense and only those who break the rules are removed in a manner deemed necessary by administration.
The Some Might Say forum is still in existence and it's return will not be ruled out. However, repeated abuses by a select number of users has necessitated it's removal. While that may seem severe, it is not an essential forum. All topics within that forum can easily fall into the other forums on the board. All the relevant posts were moved to those forums.
Originally, the message board consisted of a BAND forum, FANS forum, MUSIC forum, TOUR forum and a SITE forum. Collectively, they were known as the SOME MIGHT SAY MESSAGE BOARD.
During one of the updates, about 2 years ago, the name of the board simply became OASIS MESSAGE BOARD. The web designer at that time made a mistake and mis-labeled it. He also thought that "SOME MIGHT SAY" was a forum. The mistake was kept, even through the next 2 board updates. Eventually, a REVIEWS forum and VIDEOS forum were added. The "mistake" has been left, and has lead to many problems due to a select number of users abusing it.
The SOME MIGHT SAY forum may return prior to a site re-design, but it is just as likely that it won't. Right now, there is nothing set in stone about what the board will look like after the "face-lift". The new board may be totally different. Steps will be taken to ensure that there isn't any mistakes made in it's creation.

they are a truly pathetic, incompetent waste of space
to say that a board was a 'mistake', although it went unchanged for 2 years and through 2 redesigns, is just so lame.
i appreciate the problems of running websites/forums, and i'm sure the fact that is is an official site makes it all the worse - but it would help a lot if they hired people with more than 3 brain cells to run it...

Yeah they really need to clean up their act sometime soon. All these bands these days are using thier website effictivly to help promote their work especially with releasing songs online.

the official oasis site is truly awful. most of official band sites look brilliant, but the forums are usually shit. cos its the 'fans' that dont know much that post on official forums.
