yes, he's a better guitarist. I think noel still does most of the solo's because him an liam are oasis and when you go and see them they are the two that most people are interseted in.

Im pleased you agree 'cos I half expected to have an arguement on my hands!
Although Noel has improved a lot over the years, I was impressed at the standard of Gem's playing when Noel left on the Euro tour in 2000.He didn't just mimic Noel, he played with his own style and don't forget he didn't have long to try to peruade europeans he was Noel!

Although on FTM Gem's solo on Hey hey my my did sound quite good, I don't think he's anywhere near as good as Noel.. Does he play the solo on Hung in a bad place? I guess skill wise they are quite comparable but stylisticly I prefer noel.. Afterall, noel's classic solos are a big reason why I love oasis
So there.. Now you have an argument

i totally disagree with that. noel plays his solos the best and he actually comes up with all the stuff he and gem play. it's one thing to play a difficult song, it's another to make one. i also think noel has been touring so much that his guitar skills have reached far superior to the stuff he does in oasis.

imo gem is better, just look at the way in which he plays the solos, he's totally comfortable. It doesnt even look like he's putting to much effort into it...

Gem is a really good guitarist, but for me his sound is colder that Noel's...I still prefer the Chief! IMO Gem is not a rythm guitarist but a solo-guitarist, and this has changed very much the arrangments.

Yeah, Gem is the better guitarist, if you want proof, listen to the fantastic ending solo to Go Let It Out on FTM. Amazing. I was skepitcal till I heard that ending.

Why is that a good thing?? Noel puts in everything he's got when he solos its a good thing because he's not panicing or rushing, he's just totally in control of what he's doing, as im sure noel is but gem just looks as though he plays the oasis solo's so easily, you get the impression that he could do much harder stuff comfortably as well.

Gem probably just imprevised to the song, its not very difficult.

As a guitarist of many years, I have to disagree with you. Feeling the music is much more important than just your chops (speed). Livek Ev said, Noel writes all of the guitar parts too.
