Steve is asked when Alan would make a statement. Here are some excerpts of his answer:
"....Oasis are just a Rock and Roll band (or used to be)..."
"....Liam and Noel are once important Rock stars ......... I don't give a flying f*ck what happens to them two."
"maybe we wouldn't be hanging so much f*cking importance on something extremely trivial like the next Oasis album"
"Al is cool, was before he joined the band ...... and will be long after Oasis are on the equivalent of the "remember the 90's tour" in five years time Capice?"
is somebody a tad pissed off here ?

why does everyone make everything so spiritual and symbolic like "passing the limelight." i think you guys have a huge misconception on what's pop at the moment. oasis haven't been pop music since the middle to late 90's. they haven't made an album that's currently been with the mainstream since the brit invasion. i don't expect them to be the most important rock band in the world, but they are definately one of the better ones musically. if anything eminem is the new oasis, just in a new form. i'm not saying his music is as good, but people do see him as a rebel up in mischief, and not afraid to tackle anyone. the music takes a backseat to the press reports, you all know that the gallaghers are known by the world for their fighting. if they stop fighting, it won't make a difference.
i can see a rise in oasis popularity though because if they release another solid album, people will see that the strokes or the darkness can't touch them creatively.

I'm not suprised at Steve's comments. If my brother was fired from a popular band I would be pissed too.

Who gives a flying fook if a band or band member is 'important' or 'relevant' or 'new' or any of that shit? Or if a band is the biggest in the UK/world? Are the Beatles or the Stones the 'Biggest' any more? No, but their music is still fooking mega and always will be. All that matters if Oasis make good rock 'n' roll songs or not.
As for Steve Whites comments. Think he would be slating Liam or Noel if Alan was still in the band? Think not somehow. I take it him and Weller have been on the 'Remember the Style Council' tour for the last god knows how many years then?

interesting this "are oasis the biggest..or not...etc"
ain't no simple answer, it all depends on individual listeners
5 yrs ago springsteen was god to me..i've got countless boots that i paid top whack for at fairs & from collectors
always liked oasis but it took 3 shows last year for me to regard them as the best (ever)-for me
no looking back...
it would take a bummer of an album PLUS a crap tour (or 3) to change this view
..but that's what makes music fun! ;D ;D
