WE'VE had Blur versus Oasis, Robbie versus Oasis, and now glam-rock twits The Darkness are getting in on the act.

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher recently called the Lowestoft rockers "inoffensive", adding: "I don't know why people hate them or love them. It doesn't do anything for me, and I'm not even sure whether the people who like them genuinely like them."

Darkness singer Justin Hawkins has used a fan website to reply, posting: "Noel Gallagher is the most over-rated 'lead' guitarist in rock history."

when has noel gallagher ever claimed to be a fantastic guitarist? he's a good lead guitarist but not amazing, but he doesnt say he's great. He's a brilliant songwrighter, far better than anyone in the darkness is or ever could be. Justin hawkins maybe a better guitarist than noel but not by much, noels a far better songwighter a far better singer and doesnt look like a knob on stage. And the darkness album is the most overated in world musical history, saviours of brittish rock muic, ha ha ha ha, My arse. so there

Noel wasn't being personal, he was being frank and if i was the Darkness i wouldn't have taken offence, shows that they take themselves far too seriously in my opinion no matter what they might do with all the flashy glam b#llocks!

To give Darkness there dues they put on a good live show and can write a good riff, but they aint even gonna save the lowestoft music scene let alone the british!

For crying out loud it doesn't even need saving-The Coral, British Sea Power, and loads other bands musically better we have just not as over-rated. Phew! Rant over.
