Noel Gallagher may quit
The driving force behind Oasis thinks his performing days are numbered
Oasis man may quit
Noel Gallagher of Oasis says that he feels too old to be a rock star – he is now 36 – and believes his days as a performer may soon be over. He claims that if Paul Weller, his friend and former Jam front man, hangs up his plectrum, so will he. “If he packs it in, I won’t be very far behind,” he says. “Rock ‘n roll is a young man’s game and there’s nothing more exciting that a 21 year-old having it on stage. Sometimes I have a hard long look in the mirror at myself. You start to dress differently in your 30s, but as long as I’ve still got my hair I will keep going.”

I would not be to concerned over noels remarks, lest not forget that back in 95 in a nme interview he said he saw Oasis as "3 albums and out". The great thing about the lads is they say things without thinking about it which is why they are so special and RARE these days ;D Also weller is like 15 years older so he has a ways to go to keep up with what weller has done and i am sure weller would tell him as much, since he is a fan of oasis. What i think noel really means is he will quit at the same age weller does ,at least i hope that what he means cheers

I thought they signed a 6 album record deal in 2002. I just hope that their new tunes are good. If they're not I'd personally prefer them to finish it and leave us with the memories and music they've given us. But then again i think oasis will stay together until the next great band comes along.

how do you imagine this new "great band"? I think there won't be something huge like oasis anymore..

Well, theres a theory that goes round that every 13 years or so the next great band turns up.
Oasis were the last 'big thing' in Britain, before them I suppose it was the Sex Pistols, before them the Rolling Stones. So according to the theory, Oasis made it in '94 so the next big band should appear in 2007.
My opinion is that we will never have a band like Oasis again, times have changed since they were lads, rock n roll has changed (for the worst, all these retro/garage bands who wouldn't know a bar of soap if it came up and bit them on the arse) but hopefully this band will eventually come along.
Nowadays, music is miserable, everybody sings about how they had a hard time growing up in trailer parks, its all bullshit. Oasis said, yeah, we had an hard time but fuck it you only here once, you may aswel have a laugh. What would you rather listen to, Eminem, rapping about how his mom used to sleep around, or Oasis singing about good times?
Another thought is that the music world now is a lot like it was in the late '70's. You had pretty boys singing (e.g The Osmonds, I think!?!), we've got Pop Idol now and people got sick of all these clean cut boys, then the Sex Pistols came about and changed the music world forever. Hopefully, we'll have a band that'll change the face of music again like Oasis, Sex Pistols, The Stones, The Beatles.

yeah, that's true,I'm sick of all this whitestripesthestrokes shit..there is no true rock'n roll band right now, like oasis were (are), which ofcourse is very sad.. and if some new band starts making oasis-music they wont be so huge, I guess .. i don't know.. I wouldn't like them like I liked oasis..and i think people have enough of listening to "it's getting better man or live forever stuff...but I keep believing that good times will come someday..i.e.2007 anyway, i think the future of rock n roll is in Britain..

and if some new band starts making oasis-music they wont be so huge, I guess .. i don't know.. Well one things for certain, Brit Pop died when Noel went to No 10 Downing Street. As long as this new big band have personality, good music, humour, good haircuts then i'm with 'em. I hate it when people refer to Oasis as ' tabloid lovers ' or something like that, but all the great bands were in the papers for doing this and that. You dont see the Strokes in the Sun do you? I used to love reading about Oasis in The Sun, and everyone was slagging them off for taking drugs, sleeping with roadies, boozing etc... coz Oasis knew how to get on everyones tits but we all loved it, no matter how much your mom and dad say ' oh their a bad influence on kids ', they love it really. A lot of people say Jet are the next big band, i like their album but they haven't got that 'thing', that ratio or whatever you wanna call it that makes them great. You now when a bands great when your next door neigbours nan knows who they are. Rock n Roll is born and bread in Britain that is for sure.

Oasis said, yeah, we had an hard time but f*ck it you only here once, you may aswel have a laugh. Very well put. When you listen to Oasis, in particular Definitley Maybe, loads of the songs are about wanting to escape somewhere, but there all upbeat. Just look at some of the lyrics, 'I live my life in the city, and there's no easy way out. or 'I was looking for some action, but all I found was Cigarettes n Alcohol'. Not particularly upbeat lyrics, but the songs are just fantastically upbeat. I'm not quite sure what I'm trying to say here, but whilst most bands at the moment sing about how bad life is, Oasis write songs about how life could be better! Does that make sense to anyone?

yeah, that's true,I'm sick of all this whitestripesthestrokes shit..there is no true rock'n roll band right now, like oasis were (are), this is why a great band is gonna arive. We cant be the only people that want this new big rock n roll band there's lots of people that are fed up with the music situation at the moment. I dunno maybe its wishfull thinking but i reckon the revolution is on its way and the next BIG Rock n Roll band is only around the corner. In fact people are so fed up now with this pop idol bullshit that there even prepared to make the Darkness number 1 ahead of them, now that is desperate. I tell u something is about to change. You never know with this new oasis album we might be about to witness oasis's second coming in terms of popularity

yes, ofcourse! I mean that life is great, doesn't matter what happens, i'm gonna live forever..and if you see Oasis, you just know that they're just simple guys like you, not some strange bastards like radiohead, but guys you could go out with..just honest guys who say:"come on man, get up, life is great thing!" ..and that thing with drugs, alcohol and roadies is just funny, i mean you probably would do the same, if you were biggest rock n roll star in the world ..

People thought when the Beatles split up that that was then end. But, you had all these great bands that followed. Thats what people think about Oasis, that this will be the end of rock n roll, no way. Rock N Roll is young anyway when you think about it. Its only been going properly for about 50 years.
Im sick to death of Pop Idol, so called RnB, Rap, Hip Hop. Its all gone stale, not that i liked it in the first place anyway. Everyones following suit like sheep, nobody does anything different. Personally i cant wait until a black guy picks up an electric guitar again like Hendrix, and plays brilliant rock music, instead of bullshit RnB.

Yeah, that's the attraction of the band for me. You know that if you met Noel or Liam you'd just be able to have a laugh with them! And as for the talk of the death of Rock n Roll, Neil Young said it best, "Hey Hey My My, Rock n Roll will never die"

And if Oasis finish it at least its something to tell the kids when you're older. You've been left with the Music and the memories of it all. What more do you need?

Im sick to death of Pop Idol, so called RnB, Rap, Hip Hop. Its all gone stale, not that i liked it in the first place anyway. . your right every musical genre is stale at the minuite the most popular people in there genre's are either rubbish or very boring Rap : Eminem - instead of rapping about how shit everyone else is he should make a record that proves how much better he is R&B : dunno who the most popular is there all the same anyway Rock or alt :coldplay or radiohead- good but lets face it there as boring as watching liverpool play football pop : anyone from pop idol - SHIT......Enough said
