in my opinion one of the most under rated oasis song ever. its such a great great song, and i dont think gets the credit it deserves. mabye if it was on a different album it would have got more credit? personally i think BE HERE NOW is a very good album. i hope, i think, i no is a terrible song.
anyway.....
dont go away... it deserves more credit!!

Be Here Now has two real problems:
1) It's overproduced. 2) It was released as Britpop was fading, even if they'd released the greatest album ever it would have flopped.
and it isn't quite as good as the previous two (not many albums are)
Nevertheless, it's got some great songs. Don't Go Away is a fantastic emotional song very much like Drugs don't Work by the Verve (same subject of the song!) but IMO even better! Also Stand by Me, D'You Know what I mean and All Around the World (it's too long but what the heck) are all great songs IMO!

we all know BHN is way, way over produced. but i was pointing to dont go away as being a great great song. i agree BHN is a bit messy in parts, but its a very rock n roll album, more a fans album.
but yea, theres no doubt BHN was too over produced, it had the potental to be a maga album.

I don't think I said it the way I meant to say it. I agree that with a couple of exceptions, Be Here Now was a top rock n roll album. Perhaps I should have said it ONLY has two real faults!
One day I'd love to see somebody edit over it and release Be Here Now with some of the songs a couple of minutes shorter tbh...

I love BHN. i think its a great album. At first i had a problem with the songs being so long and repetitive, but the more and more i listen, it doesn't seem so bad. The only song i'd cut down is Its getting better... i love that song.

awesome song. i didn't fully appreciate it until i heard the Noel sung acoustic version. great tune - one of their best. yeah i'd agree its under rated although i think most oasis fans recognise it as a top song.
Be Here Now, the Second Coming - ridiculously over produced records. sadly takes something away from the songs
both under rated albums imo. although lyrically be here now leaves a lot to be desired.

Yeah, I like don't go away... I don't actually mind BHN, it's got a few good songs on it. Especially Stand By Me, Magic Pie and D'you Know What I Mean?

if noel had kept back some of the b-sides from the morning glory singles (masterplan, round are way etc), stuck them on be here now instead of the likes of i hope i think i know and fade in out, bhn would have been a fantastic album, and would not have been panned so much by critics and fans alike. personnaly i think its still a good album, just way over produced snd dont go away is really beautiful. pity noel was such good friends with 'charlie' at the time.

2) It was released as Britpop was fading, even if they'd released the greatest album ever it would have flopped. Well BHN didnt flop, its sold alot allthough it was mostly shite. DGA: Like the song, specially the first minute or two, but after that it just stays the same and doesnt have any variation at all. (the problem with most of the songs on BHN)

Great song and it wasn't that long. But Be Here now album is too damn long. Too many guitar solos and it was wrong timing to release an album like that

It is a great song but i cant help thinking it sounds a lot like a poorer version of slide away, both songs have similar chord sequences.

Don't go away is an amazingly beautiful song. It holds alot of meaning for me. I suppose it is one of the main songs which got my hooked on Oasis. Don't Go Away!

yup, noel should've replaced some tracks off BHN in favour of 2 or 3 b-sides.
i dont agree on FI-O either, it's a good track. my big mouth, magic pie and perhaps girl in the dirty shirt were probably too boring, too monotous songs to come up on an oasis record - yet they are not really bad. but you get that impression esp when listening to b-sides like stay young, the fame, flashbax which are A+

i love girl in the dirty shirt, its a great tune... espcially the really catchy bit of keyboard for the last few minutes of the song. though dont like the way he ends it on C7.
