The record company founded by the entrepreneur who discovered Oasis has gone for a song. Alan McGee bought his Poptones label back for just £1.
The Scottish music mogul, who once advised the Government on employment policy, has become a victim of a record industry recession after failing to find a new band to match the warring Gallagher brothers. Mr McGee discovered Oasis in 1994 and signed them to his Creation records, which he sold to Sony for £20 million five years later.
