Ten years ago, Oasis erupted onto the music scene, less like a breath of fresh air and more like a hurricane of soberingly cold wind. Pushing aside indie popsters and teeny chart toppers, they brought a much-needed blast of anarchic rock 'n' roll the likes of which hadn't been heard for decades. And with their latest album Heathen Chemistry they're still blasting the competition out of the water. Michael Spencer Jones was there from the very beginning. He was responsible for the cover photography of the first three albums - Definitely Maybe, Be Here Now and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory - as well as all bar one of the singles released at that time from 'Supersonic', 'Shaker Maker' and 'Live Forever' through the almost surreal images of 'Roll With It' and 'Wonderwall' to the Beatle-esque 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'All Around the World'. From the start, Michael's photographs became an integral part of the band's image. He also travelled with them on tour and followed them into the studio, his camera capturing them rehearsing, recording, live on stage and relaxing and tearing things up off of it. Sunshine Follows Thunder includes the pick of Michael's remarkable archive. Out-takes from the album sessions sit alongside intimate pictures of the band playing pool, accompanied by an illuminating text giving a first-hand insight into the life of Oasis, the stories behind the classic covers and the making of rock 'n' roll legends. This large-format book is produced to the highest standards of craftmanship for which Genesis books are famed. Each copy is master-printed onto 200gsm art acid-free paper, craftsman-bound in quarter leather and housed in a stylish protective slipcase. The edition is restricted to just 950 individually numbered copies worldwide, each one signed by Michael Spencer Jones. Genesis is proud to add OASIS, the band of the Nineties, to its illustrious list of artists. We cannot accept firm orders at this stage, but if you join the Genesis mailing list you will be given the first chance to order the book before publication at the special pre-publication price. You will also receive regular email updates on progress. A free advance prospectus is also available if you also complete the optional address fields. (All addresses are kept private and never passed on to any other party.)
