I burned a data dvd with .avi and the matching .sub files. it works perfectly on my pc but not on a home dvd player (I see the vids but not the subtitles). tha same using .sub format.
does anyone know how can I make it work? any help is much appreciated

is your dvd player able to read subtitles in that way? has it ever worked?

yeah maybe. I really don't know. it's new and there's nothing on the manual. I checked that link and ended up here forum.videohelp.com/topic338752.html (cool tutorial) according to that guy: none of the players will handle a subtitle text file that's been saved as Unicode (if you've ever had an .srt file that would not display any subtitles on your DVD player, it's probably because the file was saved in Unicode format - use WordPad or a similar text editor to re-save the file in standard, plain text (ANSI) format and it will probably work fine). so I'll have to try that, cos I don't want permanent subtitles on the vids thanks guys for the help. k+
