Hey there, i have a new computer with Vista on it and it wont read the movies my sister has downloaded from the inet i believe they're AVI files and i suspect it's a plug in problem can anyone point me a good plug in/solution to this problem thanks

wasn't here a reply from jono? vlc plays anything using it own codecs, it was a good suggestion what do you see when you try to play them? is there an error message or something?

error message i want to read with with the WMP like i used to i dont want to download a whole new player and i want to burn them

check the windows update for any wmp codecs/updates
what does the error message read?

there is no message since it plays the sound...

try installing k-lite codec pack, you can choose not to install the player

if you have nero, avi plays on their player.
