My computer hasn't been able to do streaming videos for at least a few months now. It either shows me one to ten seconds of it and then stops to buffer, or doesn't play it at all. It happens with online radio too.
I'm pretty sure it's not a space issue because I can still download movies and large files at regular speeds. I don't know where to look for help so does anyone have any ideas?

does your internet go through a proxy server? or a router? - an overactive firewall may also affect this.

I don't have a proxy server or a router. I have Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus, but I don't have a firewall.

has it ever worked? is it for all streams? (or same sites, or file type etc)
(also think that the nortons internet security includes a firewall, maybe wrong)

It was working for a while after I got it (Spring '04.) As far as I can tell, it's not exclusive to any file type or website. It lets me view files that are downloaded into a temp folder, such as flash movies, but nothing with a live stream.
I checked and you're right, my Norton Internet Security does include a firewall. But when I click on it, it says, "You do not have the necessary rights to configure all the features of the selected item." I remember having that problem a long time ago when I was trying to install a torrent client.

If that's just for torrents I already figured out I didn't have to change my firewall settings.
