when i bought my comp the dealer who sold me it put a slightly less than official registered copy of windows xp on it for me
its always been a problem that cos of this windows updates wont let me d/l sp2
im sure it wouold sort some probs iv had
can i dl it anywhere else?

you can get it on CD if you ask microsoft nicely i did and mine was sent in the post - i also got a copy from a PC magazine who were giving away the disks....

pack 2 is shit i've downloaded it many times and had lot of problems...internet connection mainly and issues with my local network i only got pack 1 and i'm very happy like that!

ok heres what you do. go to internet explorer then goto tools then manage pulgins. find the windows production validation one and disable it. then download all you like!

it's not a click right thing it is in the explorer window on the menu in the up left corner where you have files and all then you have tools

file then edit then view then faves then tools............................but if i click tools i cant find any manage addons or plugins options

sure i have windows update which will dl sp1 and sp2
but wont install them
have got sp2 off isohunt too same prob
so i need to workn out this disable thing these guys are talkin about so windows doesnt recognise my dodgy xp prog
how do i get from tools to manage add-ins/plugins?

mar i may be wrong, but im petty sure the manage add-ons option in internet explorer is only available after you have installed service pack 2, which is what your trying to install in the first place isnt i?

the windows validation is a hidden one. when you're in the add ons manager,select all plug ins that have been used by internet explorer. select the windows genuine advantage one and disable it
goes for anyone else who has an illegal version of windows but wants some of these new downloads offered by windows
throw me some karma if it helps
