i have an old mic, and i want to connect it to my pc, i plug it in, now what should i do, i have no softwere for it?

in sound control panel, (control panel) make sure that mic is unmuted and volume is up - then using soundrecorder (windows) when you talk & record you should be able to hear you talking.... $te

does tha mic have an on off button? is the mic battery powered? is it connected to the mic in or audio input on your soundcard?
open sound recorder-->edit---->audio properties and make sure that your soundcard is selected correctly for the sound recording, then you can make sure all volumes are up!
otherthan those, id have no idea why no working, sorry
