Its basically for your internet connection and to share the internet connection with more then one computer i think. I take it you're getting a new better connection then? They also have firewalls as well which gives more protection to your computer.

Probably be able to get one from a shop like pc world or currys and they'll help you out with what one you need to get. Wouldn't cost alot either I don't think. Maybe about £30 i think.

yeah, every modern wireless router would have encryption on it so you can set a password, and only you can access the router - and internet connection!

i have a wireless access point and broadband router and on the scan thingy, i can pick up 2 other wireless networks, and because i can also share files, security is very important.
