a minidisc recorder and a decent stereo microphone is what i would prob do. if you can get access to the mixing desk, (with/without bribes), then you could take a direct line out...

No, absolutely not.

I thought it would be neat to have a boot of a gig that I was actually at and recorded for myself, nothing more.

So, a minidic recorder and a decent mic, anything else, maybe alittle more discrete?

Are the guys at the mixing table usually cool about letting you plug into the board?
