Here's a message i received in reply to my request for a local rock station to play the new Oasis single: Taylor- I played the New Oasis single Lyla over a week ago on my Give It The Finger segment, unfortunately it was not received well - it got the finger. As of now I put it on the back burner but I will rehash it again and see how it sounds on our segment called WHAT'S THAT? M-F at 11 pm I shut down everything else and do nothing but new stuff - soon Oasis will be joining those ranks, thanks for the request and the info - and for listening to the show! Jace.
That just sucks doesn't it? The DJ gave it a chance but I spose the locals don't like it. Pisses me off...IF they'd rather have Slipknot well then fuck em!!!

Someone in Canberra, my hometown, Geoff Gardner (that station is very anti-Oasis as well so he's a renegade I think)

Another Update from a local DJ after I responded to his email. Here is my composition and his reply: Jace, What surprises me is that a sister station of yours (1077 THE END...or maybe that's just a coincidence?) in Seattle has Lyla coming in at #2 as of April 12th in a people's choice countdown and on your station it's not even on a list of new rock music? I know in this business you have to give the people what they want...but it seems in this MTV-saturated age we live in that the public is told what music to like (how else does Ashley Simpson sell records?) Maybe that's a bad reason to play the new Oasis single, but there ya go. I just thing its a solid honest rock tune from a legendary band that deserves a good run on the air. Your support of Oasis is greatly appreciated. Cheers, Taylor
Now the DJ's Reply: New Orleans is VERY different from Seattle (I know I live in one and actually came from the other) Our audience doesn't put as much importance on Oasis and that's who we serve, we will by testing it more but in the initial test we did, it failed horribly, hopefully subsequent tests don't follow the same path. Personally I am not a fan of Oasis, I remember the tantrums in the mid 90's (even tried to get them to come on my show back then when I was in Oregon - KNRQ/KZEL) They lost ALOT of respect from not just me but many of my peers. The song may be good but it's not spectacular (it's no "Wonderwall") Thanks again for your comparison and commitment to a band you feel deserves play, maybe our audience will agree after more exposure to it. I'll do my part - We'll see what happens.
Thanks again!

It just blows my mind that he overlooks the music in favor of their personalities. Because they don't like Oasis' personality, they don't like the music. IT's ridiculous. There are plently of bands that should be out the window on that account! As Noel said in the Wibbling Rivalry: "It's about the music, music, MUSIC, MUSIC!!!! It's not about you, it's not about me....It's about the tunes."
No Lyla is not Wonderwall. But does everything that airs on the radio have to be the best of the band? Why the fuck do they feature Slipknot every night? ARRRR. Fuckin' absurd!
