nice! Yeah i wasn't sure what other people (the non diehards as u would say) would think about the song but if the reactions are good thats BRILLIANT! one of my friends who isn't really an oasis fan liked it too.

Have to agree with all the comments about it being like the Street Fighting Man cover on AATW. And did anyone notice how the outro is very similar to the intro of My Sister Lover!

i like that part at the end of the first corus liam sings "heaven help me catch you if i fall", and the "all" from fall keeps repeating into the verse, but eventually it sounds like a crow and becomes part of the percussion. thats awesome!

i agree with all the stones similiarities..its like NOEL said in the interview on FTM,, all his songs are gonna sound like the beatles, stones ,or stone roses...its his influence and like all great OASIS tunes it borrows from a past classic (much the way cigs and alcohol borrows from t rex} but when its done it sounds very OASIS and brilliant!

To me the song is across between Street Fighting Man, Up in the Sky, and Probably all in the Mind. I don't know where the BHN influences are but the song sounds like something that could have easily been on Heathen Chemistry. The production is spot on english pop circa late 66-68. The vibe is very Kinks meets the Hollies.

had it since tuesday now and i aint bored of it
dave sardy has done a crackin job on production, i just hope the rest of the album is this well produced.
Liam sounds amazing, very 95.
I dont think its like anything off HC but thats just my opinion.
In regards to the BHN similarities, for me its in the lyrics and the little guitar solo half way through.
Love the drums, harmonies and the piano
IMO the reason he put Lyla out is cos its really really catchy. It may not be the best song off the album, but its so infectious itll drive people mad. Even my sister said it was a good song and she despises Oasis
Only thing that let me down was the outro on the version I have. It builds right up with drums guitar and teasing piano, then it just fades out, but on the version i have someone has got rid of the polish guy talking, so theyll have cut some of the outro out
All in all, i think its a blistering comeback

wow! i am so loving this thread!!! all the other ones on lyla have been rather negative
but im loving it =) its what saturday now??? and i have listened to it like a hundred times and not gotten sick of it. it may not have blown me away but i quite like where i am so its okay =P but yes, its a good song and im happy to hear all the 'non diehards' are liking it.
my friends all liked it as well - either loved it or thought it was alright. well, thats what they said anyway. they know better than to slag off oasis in my presence =)
