You'd be surprised how reasonable a Takamine is actually....got my E-series for £350 and it sounds amazing, full electro-acoustic with a nice pickup and pre-amp.

on mtv unplugged he uses a semi-acoustic takemine cutaway
The following guitars i saw noel use in some live performances:
in the beginning (94) he uses a epiphone EJ-200 jumbo on some performances round 95: he uses a guild 12-string for his acoustic sets, or that winered semi-acoustic cutaway, takemine I think round 96: takemine semiacoustic cutaway 97: same... 98: same...
99/00: gibson hummingbird or epiphone frontier 01: - 02/03/04: gibson J-200 jumbo (the one with the adidas logo)
the takemine's dont have to be that expensive, neither do the epiphones. The gibson and the guild are quite expennsive though.
But if I may give you a point of advice: dont just buy what your heros play, but what YOU think is best, sounds best, playes best and lookes cool.
But I have to admit that (except from the takemines) noel DOES use very cool guitars...

Takamine EF-325SRC I believe is the red one that is also used on knebworth.
Wish I could get me hands on an Epiphone Frontier (or Excellente)...
Never considered Guild or Gibson acoustics TERRIBLY expensive...maybe their upper class models, but the standards are very much affordable.

Allright mate, fair enough. Bu t there are lots of guys on these guitarforums that stare themselves blind on guitars that their heros use, and buy a way too expensive guitar, just because someone else uses it

my dads got a guild, its got a fucking amazing sound but in my opinion is hard to play, the action on its is too high.
I wouldnt get that epi, ive heard bad things about their acoustics.

Epiphone Frontiers one of those hard to find gems. Those early Epi's (FT series) are very pretty, but very expensive.
..epiphone jumbos I've heard are okay but I don't see why yer'd get one instead of a gibson...theres only one Epi jumbo with a solid top but that's the only solid piece on it...alright I suppose but I'd much rather spring for a guild. I mean what's the point in having an imitation, really? Unless you have some sort of affection to the brand, I'd say get the real deal.
soz about that eggywhatever, Noel uses the wine red one for earls court and I saw him use it in a gig in the US. You make it sound like he doesn't have one...anyhow...FD – 460SC is the natural one he used alot. I wonder how noel got into takamine guitars?
Around 94', he used an Epiphone J-200, not EJ-200, as the EJ series wasn't produced until 1998. Biggest cosmetic difference is that the J-200 lacks the pickguard designs..yea. They don't make em like they used to.

I meant that he used the natural one at the unplugged gig. He used the red one on jools 95 too i think and the dlbia acoustic at hotel something.... Wonder how he got into takemine too. I think the model is very ugly
