SOME might have said Oasis are past it... but how wrong they were. The bad boys from Manchester took to the stage on Friday night with a point to prove and, unlike England, they didn't fluff their big moment. Put simply, Oasis once again proved they are still the best rock 'n' roll band we've got. And, oh, how they rock. There were few surprises in their 90-minute show but who cares? A cover of My Generation was awesome. Rock And Roll Star, What's The Story Morning Glory, Don't Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall reminded the audience that the Brothers Grim DID, at least, know how to write great songs once upon a time. There was even a tune dedicated to the England team, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, which led to a classic Glastonbury singalong. Dressed in an uber-trendy, white full-length parka, Liam was everything a true rock god should be. Noel was calmness personified and Andy Bell and Gem Archer played their roles to perfection. The revelation of the show, though, was Zak Starkey, who stepped in following the axing of Alan White. OK, if your dad's Ringo Starr you would hope to be a bit tasty banging the skins. And Zak - who usually drums for The Who - is something else. In fact, if the Gallaghers have any sense, they'll be pleading with Zak to take the role full time...and let him carry on breathing new life into the band.
