Everyone keeps goin on about how Liam's voice has been sounding really good and better than it has sounded in a while , yet am I the only one who thinks its a little flat and off-key? I was listening to some of the tracks last night at my girlfriends place and she was like "I'm sorry but had I not known this was Oasis, I would think that whoever it was singing the songs is killing them." Of course I was pissed at her for a few minutes, but soon later I knew what she was talking about. He's by far sounded better than this in the recent past. The broadcasted Berlin 2002 show for example. Anyone agree?

yeah i know what you mean, finsbury park and manchester in 2002 were awesome liam vocals..last night and today iv been trying to think of the reason behind his vocals being so off key,, the only one i can think of is the fact he was wearing ear pieces and thats unusual for liam..Im not sure what to think

Ya, i thought he was struggling in some songs 9scyho0, but it I think its just him singing live, he sounds great on album versions. Maybe he had a bit of a sore throat too. Anyway, i dont think this is the downfall of Liam ;D

He sounded great in the warm up gig! So maybe something was different at glasto.

the problem is that liam hides behind the fact he's aged to solve his voice problem. well look at frank black. i've seen the pixies 2 weeks ago and he sings just like he did in the late 80's. liam just doesn't give a fuck about his voice, he drinks too much, he'll end up like Jim Morrison or Bob Dylan perhaps. Well , ok, Bob always had a 60's years old voice.

Liam's struggling voice is what makes Oasis...Oasis! I mean, in all honesty, he doesn't have a good voice. He has a unique voice. And it's the scratchy, somewhat off-key quality of Liam's voice that makes him so great. So the more off key, the better, I say! Except for in SCYHO...that was just uncalled for.

i completely agree that liam's voice, at least in the poole show (i havnt listened to glasto yet) sounds quite flat much of the time, and i thoroughly disagree that this is what makes liam liam.
that berlin 2002 show was a great show, liam-wise especially. i think that might have had liam's best ever performance of morning glory. he snarles and growls but it's all on-key and lively.

Im sick of everyone slagging liams voice off! Put it this way.....Could anyone whos been slagging his voice off do a better job??......I didn't think so....
Liams the greatest frontman/singer this country has seen for 20 odd years.
I suppose these critics want everyone to sing like gareth gates or will young?? FOR FUCKS SAKE THIS IS ROCK N ROLL!!!!

listen here man, u cant be on top forever, liam has grown old , his voice is flat . it is very noticable , especially to musically trained individuals. having said that I would still go see them play , afterall they are still one of the best bands out there, thom yorke is a much better singer after all these years then liam is. everyone who says that was a great performance by liam is in denial , sorry lads.

WTF IS THIS LIAMS AGED BULLSHIT? He's 31, big fucking deal. I think there was some technical problems personally because his voice did have some weird thing going on but when they played last year he sounded as good as ever. I doubt that his voice has changed that much.

Judged by SCYHO, his singing was indeed terrible at Glasto , terribly off-key. Hopefully he was just drunk or high or something like that.

...on the other hand, he seems to have got the other songs right, so the problem might be in SCYHO. Morning Glory is ace for example.

SCYHO is a hard song to sing, mind you...

did u lot not hear noel after glasto when he was being interviewed by edith and that lot...he said liam couldnt hear himself because of the ear pieces...if you noticed he did actually sing really fuckin well to the fucking belters and to the real real quite ones like songbird....on my generation he just sang his arse off so he didnt need to hear himself and on songs like songbird it was quite enough to hear himself...and that version sounded great!!!if you notice...at one point during the set liam points at the mic and looks over to his right (not sure what part but the tv camera court it from behind) so obviously the sound set up wasnt done properly......this can also be noticed when noel tried to sing on little by little which was a fucking sound....not his falt but because of how his mic sound was set up!!!
if you ask me...i reckon the team members will sort the sound out properly for them or they will just tell liam to take the fuckin ear things out....coz frankly they aint helping him hit the rite notes....its all too profesional for him!!
technically tho.......oasis were sounding great!!!apart from tempo of supersonic which was abit drowny!!

I thought it was a bit of an odd performance vocally from Liam.
Some songs sounded pretty good but on others I thought he sounded like Kermit the Frog.
I was watching it with my mate (who knows a few of the songs from the albums) and he thought the singing was awful.
And as far as SCYHO goes I think either Noel should sing it or they should just take it off the setlist because it's not doing Liam any favours.
But my biggest gripe with the gig has to be Oasis' insistence that the new songs weren't broadcast.
I mean, most bands would kill to get new material broadcast at festivals to build up interest in their next album rather than just having to trot out their old tunes.
Apart from two Heathen Chemistry tunes there was nothing for the TV viewers later than 1995 - I mean, I know the DM and WTSMG tracks are classics but sing me something new!!!!
I just find it ridiculous that BBC weren't allowed to show the new tunes and a bit of a piss take to be honest.

if you wanna hear liam singing bad, you should cast your mind back to wembley 2000, the second night, (not the DVD) he was so drunk he couldnt hit a note!!! glastonbury was amazing compared to that!

ok lad's, i was harsh on limas voice earlier. having said that I still am on a few songs. I watched the DVD from glasto and found it to be enjoyable. Every thing was good except for supersonic, supernova, stop crying and little by little. Columbia was tops and so was rock and roll star. I still thought he had a better night on the wembley DVD. Like I said ,Columbia was the shit.

I must have missed part of the interview with Noel when he said that about Liam not hearing anything. As someone mentioned way back at the start of the thread it is unusual for Liam to wear ear pieces, I thought it was because he was going deaf in his old age.Or he wants to sing better, not worse as it resulted. I have heard some of the Poole bootleg and I thought he sounded great there. I thought Oasis's performance was pretty poor. They are definatley not the band they used to be. What have they done to Supersonic? It used to rock now it ambles along like an old man. Bring it on down was great and Zak on the drums is fantastic. On first listen to the new songs I thought they were ok.Noel seems to have an obbsession with writing "sun" or "sun shine" in a song. after a few more listens I have to admit I quite like them.

Your totally correct mate. I agree with Noel's vocals not being as solid, due to the set-up of the mics. I can not honestly find any fault in Liam's vocal performance at Glastonbury? What's up with everybody?

Liam's voice/sneer is part of what makes Oasis not sound like every other band out there. Here in America you turn on mtv and some of the songs are pretty decent but they sound like any band could of sung and performed them. You can picture blink 182 doing a new found glory song. You can picture blink 182 singing it is all downhill from here. I do not think you can picture blink 182 singing I was Huuung in a bad place or to spend your days in the sunshiiiiiiine. It is the attitude man. You get goosebumps when your listening to Acquiesce and Liam says but it all depends on the way the fuuucking wind blows. If you want a technically sound voice go listen to charlotte church albums.

finally got around to watching Glasto again!
i think all the hype over liam's voice is a little overdone - it was poor in one or two songs (namely Supersonic and SCYHO imo) but overall - typical Liam. he is about the attitude and sound rather than perfect singing. like someone said - you want that, go see charlotte church
you could barely hear Noel at times - very poorly done. but when you could hear him, he was fine
Morning Glory was probs my fave track - sounded great!
i think the performance got such dodgy reviews was because there was no controversy - Liam didnt tell the crowd to fuck off, he wasnt pissed. the press even had to invent the controversy for once
yeah the gig lacked a bit of energy, but it was still good
