I was expecting so much more from his voice. Generally when Oasis have a break and then come back his voice is brilliant. e.g Jools Holland and the MTV superdry gig.
His voice sounds pretty shit on some of the songs. He is amazing on the meaning of soul. Is it just me who thinks this??
It sounds flat and destroyed by smoking!

i dont have any big expectations since 2000 (FTM -> disgusting vocal perfomance)
however his voice in the newer songs surprised me a lot...too raspy in places but still cool... the older songs sound like a crow has been singin them.. he had his personal peak in 96 and esp in 97

Totally agree. A crow just about sums his voice up on the olders songs. His voice in the new ones does sound great. He sounds like he did on Thankyou for the good times in the meaning of soul. Sounds mega.
Hate to say it but perhaps its time they left the older songs out of the setlist cos Liam just doesnt have the range anymore. Noel could do a few acoustically but Liam is definately struggling.
I hate saying this. I've worshipped that voice since I was 11!!

I agree completley. Its sad, but he sounds strained, raspy and even off pitch in places. Some of the Poole concert bootlegs sounded more like rejected Pop Idol auditions to me. I've always thought Noel has a better vocal talent than Liam to begin with, but this is ridiculous. I thought FTM was pretty bad, but the latest is much worse. He's lost most of the power and tone he had in the early days. Of course he didn't sound bad at all on HC, so here's hoping the studio folks can sweeten his sound up a bit.

which brings me to my next point: don't smoke, especially if you're the lead singer of the best rock and roll band in the world.
