In 30 years, when im 50, will the likes of Oasis/Stone Roses etc be on the "oldies" station. Will our kids deem us uncool for listening to them?
Or are these bands like the Beatles with respect to them being ever cool?
I would like to say the latter.
Listening to the Roses right now. Almost 20 years after their debut. And it's fuckin mint.
Just another Live4evr question lol

All I can say is... good music will never die and you listen to the bands you love cos you love them and you wanna hear them and not they're "cool".
You don't listen to the bands cos you don't like them and not they're "uncool".
To me "oldies" and "newbies" terms sound non-sense. Me personally, like everyone here knows, I'm a huge The Smiths fan and their albums are more than 20 years old. I also love The Jam, Joy Division, TJAMC, The Roses, Echo and The Bunnymen, Squeeze, Crowded House. If listening to all those bands makes me uncool, I would be happy to being uncool.
Just another mimmihopps opinoin.

And don't say the old Noel excuse because Phil is actually better at drums then Noel (see early Genesis)

the initial question presumes that at some point in life you stop listening to current music and i personally can't see that happening to me. i may not follow music as closley as i do now and almost certainly won't go to as many gigs but to think i will spend my whole time listening to old music, i just can't see it happening.
as for being cool, i'm glad im not, must be a burden having to keep up with what is cool and what isn't.

It's certanily not 'uncool' to listen to oasis here in the UK Just looked at facebook and it say that Oasis are the most popular band in both Liverpool and Manchester unis

One thing which makes you feel old is hearing a song that was new in your lifetime on an oldies/classic station....yikes.
Had that happen several times...
Thanks.

Where I've lived, listening to Oasis outside of the occasional radio track is considered odd.
I don't feel "uncool" for it though.
