I recently bought Allman Brothers "Beginnings" a compilation from 1973 abtou their first 3 albums, i'm really amazed about the quality of their songs, Duane Allman was a fantastic guitar player, so Greg was a singer, their mix of Blues, Rock and Jazz is a gift from the rock olimpo. Now if you're more into live albums check their classic "At the Fillmore" another jewel of American Rock, where are that bands like them now? a shame

Fucking good band, Greg Allman had a great voice especially on the earlier stuff, but by the time the got to the Ramblin' Man days it was getting too hight. If you want to get another good compilation get Stand Back, it's a two disk set the encompasses their entire career.
Fun Fact: Duane Allman wrote the opening riff to Eric Clapton's Layla.

my fav Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low; Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low. You got no nerve baby, to turn Uncle John from your door. I woke up this morning, I had them Statesboro Blues, I woke up this morning, had them Statesboro Blues. Well, I looked over in the corner, and Grandpa seemed to have them too.

Tradition lives up again. They're playing new york 17 times or so again. They sell their shows as well. Every time I've seen em they play their ass off. Derek Trucks is a helluva guitarist. Plays with his finger tips. Almost like a bass.
