Miller denies Dylan 'defamation'
Actress Sienna Miller has rejected claims that new film Factory Girl blames singer Bob Dylan for the death of Andy Warhol's muse, Edie Sedgwick. Dylan reportedly tried to halt the release of the film, starring Miller as Sedgwick, claiming it defamed him.
Character Billy Quinn, who has a doomed affair with Sedgwick in the film, bears a physical likeness to Dylan.
But Miller told The Observer she was "mortified" to learn of Dylan's anger. "It blames Warhol more than anyone."
"I'm Bob Dylan's biggest fan. I'm mortified that he's pissed off," Miller, 25, told the Sunday newspaper.
"She [Sedgwick] needed help and no one helped her. It's not that Dylan drove her to heroin addiction."
Factory Girl follows the life of Sixties fashion icon Sedgwick, who committed suicide at the age of 28.
It was released in the US on Friday, just in time to allow it to qualify for this year's Academy Awards.
Producer Harvey Weinstein is keen to secure a nomination for Miller, who stars opposite Guy Pearce as Warhol.
Billy Quinn - "a hybrid of Dylan, Jim Morrison, Donovan" according to director George Hickenlooper - is played by Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen.
"Even though Mr Dylan's name is not used, the portrayal remains... defamatory," Dylan's lawyer Orin Snyder wrote in a letter to the film's producers, quoted in The Observer.
"It very obviously looks and sounds like Dylan," said Miller. "But I think a lot of actors base performances on real life."
Sedgwick is believed to have inspired some of Dylan's best-loved tracks, but the singer has never spoken publicly about their alleged relationship.

Simon Sez: Dylan Is a Dud We have always been in Simon Cowell’s corner. His expert evisceration of American Idol contestants is unequivocally entertaining. So we used to feel pretty confident that there was nothing he could do to truly offend or horrify us. After all that is his THING…and nobody does it better. But then he went and shit talked Bob Dylan. According to the New York Post, Cowell recently indirectly refuted the long-standing (and patently ridiculous) rumor that the American troubadour might appear as a guest judge on a future American Idol by saying that he prefers Kelly Clarkson’s music to Bob Dylan’s. We’re presuming this was said without sarcasm…or drugs. “I’ve never bought a Dylan record,” claims the Idol maker. “A singing poet? It just bores me to tears.” But he didn’t stop there. He goes on to say that a Dylan-inspired season of American Idol would suck. “I’ve got to tell you, if I had 10 Dylans in the final of American Idol, we would not be getting 30 million viewers a week. I don’t believe the Bob Dylans of this world would make American Idol a better show.” We used to respect Simon as a savvy social scientist—someone who gets the most out of the lowest common denominator within our culture. But we though he actually KNEW what good music was…even if it wasn’t what he was selling. Evidently we were wrong and now we hate him. But that’s us…how do YOU feel about Simon’s Bob bashing? -- Rolling Stone

lol @ Cowell bashing Bob. American Idol is shit and Bob is much better.
I do admit though, I haven't heard much from him, though I do plan to. I love Lay Lady Lay, Tambourine Man, and Like A Rolling Stone.

MAJOR BOB DYLAN RETROSPECTIVE ON ITS WAY
A major Bob Dylan box set is released by Sony BMG on October 1, preceded by a remix of one of his classic songs by Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse producer Mark Ronson..
The three-CD retrospective, titled simply 'Dylan', features 51 tracks, covers five decades of Dylan’s career and comes in three versions – a deluxe edition featuring the three discs in a cloth covered case and accompanied by an extended booklet of rare and unseen Dylan photos as well as 10 limited edition postcards from key moments in his history. There is also an 18-song Best Of edition, available as a single disc.
Content for the three CDs is still being finalised, but will be influenced by fans who can vote for their favourite tracks on the official Bob website, dylan07.com.
The website now features artwork for the compilation, plus a promotional trailer for the album, as well as details of a unique online photo exhibition featuring contributions from celebrities and fans who have been inspired by Dylan’s music.
Meanwhile, Mark Ronson’s remix of “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)” will have its global radio premiere on August 1.
“I’m a huge Dylan fan, so it’s a great honour,” says Ronson, as a major shudder goes through massed worldwide ranks of Bob fans.
