great, great record. but then again i really enjoy battle born as well, so what do i know? I need to investigate Battle Born more, but there's definitely some goods song on it. I remember listening to a song on it the other day that kinda sounded like 'Walk On The Wild Side' by Lou Reed, that was pretty good. God bless.

i don't get the hate for battle born. flesh and bone, runaways, ms. atomic bomb, way it was, here with me, and the title track ,all great tunes in my opinion. but it's a more 'mature' sound? maybe i'm just getting old

The only thing that Battle Born was missing was a MASSIVE comebcak single, runaways is a great song, but not starts until the second minute. And maybe losing a ballad or two.

My favourite album of the 21st century,
I love it's bombastic nature, the ambition and power combined with simply great songs,
Album songs like Bling (Confessions of a King), Why Do I Keep Counting, River Is Wild are amazing songs which the Killers never bettered.
Twinned with awesome singles, it hasn't got a weak track. However Bones is probably my least favourite
I loved Hot Fuss as well but this seemed a step up. It's a shame they went really downhill after this (although I need to give Battle Born another go)

My big problem with Battle Born is that its too MOR anthemic rock for me. It lacks a bite to it. On Sam's Town they were taking a gamble with their sound but the bombast really fit them. You hear the excitement in that record all the way from rush of Sam's Town to the comedown of Exitlude. On Battle Born they sound like a tired Vegas act whose been playing the same show for the past 10 years.
Day & Age is a bit underrated though. Like the New Wave vibes on it: The first five songs on that record makes up a really great run of songs. A really fun set of songs as well, which is something the Killers do well. The Bowie-ness of Neon Tiger is a direction that I wish they would explore more. The World We Live In is probably their most underrated pop song and Goodnight, Travel Well is something that the Killers have never really done again. A dark epic. Forget About What I Said shoulda been on it though.

It's the only Killers album I like. I like a few songs on some of their other albums but Sam's Town is the only album of theirs I'll listen to front to back.

I don't know. I like about half of this album. I was a bit disappointed by the album when it came out. The songs I like a really like and the songs I don't...meh
Hot Fuss is by far their best. My next favorite is Day & Age personally. Doesn't seem to be a popular opinion on hear though. Battle Born is now at the bottom.

It's the only Killers album I like. I like a few songs on some of their other albums but Sam's Town is the only album of theirs I'll listen to front to back. I love Their first two albums everything after that is more a singles band for me, the albums got very patchy. I always found It really funny that Sam's Town was the album they hoped would smashed them big in their own country (it's clearly indebted to The Boss and U2 Joshua Tree era) after the success of Hot Fuss in the States. It went over like a damp squid with the American's who still prefer them as the British Sounding band of Hot Fuss, although the British/Irish lapped it up. I still think many still only dig Hot Fuss and the singles from that period, but the true fanbase will always say Sam's Town is their classic album. Uncle Jonny sounds like an American Version of Oasis, the opener Sam's Town is Hot Fuss era but with added Springstein, Read My Mind and Bling were great singles (although Bones was and is a weak point on Sam's Town). When You Were Young is still their greatest single. Apart from Bones not a duff track on the album. Their debut and 2nd album really cemented them after that it's been not been disappointing just not as epic after the first two but their greatest hits was brilliant though. They really should have been a British band though in a way.
