Hey everyone, Not new but i've been digging the Stones albums from this period mostly Aftermath,Between the Buttons,Their Satanic Magesties Request, and the Jumpin Jack Flash single.A great period in my opinion, one of the most creative, and really the period where Brian Jones showed his talent.i wondered if anyone else here liked this period.I'm a BIG Brian Jones fan btw.

Yea I'd have to agree with you. Recently I bought two compulations of the stones one from 66-71, and one from 72-92, and the first is, in my opinion, much better.

Studio wise this was a great creative era for them, but not Live. That didn't come until 1969 when they started using PA systems.

I HATE to break it to you but Brian Jones might be one of the most overrated musicians of all-time. He was also a horrible person towards women. He should be no one's idol. Sorry Liam. You will also find the more you read up on Brian is that by 1965 he was basically a non factor with The Stones creatively. He contributed zero songs, didn't sing backing vocals anymore and lost his guitar edge to Keith full time. He was just along for the ride between 1966 and 1968. Often he was too stoned or didn't show up for sessions during this time. A lot of his work had to be re-recorded. It's a big factor to the band kicking him out in 1968. Brian's real legacy is starting, managing and naming The Rolling Stones. Very very important to the band between 1962 and 1965.

Brian Jones gave them that extra touch of class, that they never quite got back. Although Mick Taylor was the better guitarist and they became a better live act, The Stones were never as musical experimental after his leaving. They were awesome for me until 73 after that it became very patchy indeed. so many songs that Jones playing made better Ruby Tuesday (he supposedly co wrote with Richards but wasn't given credit) Lady Jane Child of The Moon Paint it Black We Love You 2,000 Lights years From home She's a rainbow Under my Thumb I am Waiting She Smiled Sweetly Sympathy For The Devil Jig Saw Puzzle Street Fighting Man stray Cat Blues Mothers Little Helper Have You Seen Your Mother Lets Spend The Night Together So many great songs. Love the Stones at their peak.

J ig Saw Puzzle Street Fighting Manstray Cat BluesMothers Little Helper Have You Seen Your Mother Lets Spend The Night Together So many great songs. Love the Stones at their peak. The Stones absolute zenith of studio output and live performances was between 1968 and 1972 when they released Beggers Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street. None of those really had an impact from Brian Jones. One could argue that prior to 1968 The Stones were more of a singles band, never truly producing a "great" album before that. Very choppy albums and a lot of covers included on those early efforts. I'm surprised you listed so many songs from Beggars Banquet, an album that is famous for Brian's lack of musical contributions, in house fighting about his attendance and erratic drug behavior. It led to his sacking a few months later.
