They could have gone on to greater things had Sting not disappeared up his own arse. The story of Every Breath You Take, and how he took all songwriting credits, sticks in the throat of anyone who is aware of it, particularly Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers.
Summers came up with the song's guitar riff. Given its the defining feature of that song, that he never received a royalty in songwriting for that is awful. Copeland as ever isn't backwards in coming forwards telling everyone what a shit Sting was.

The strings loop in the beginning (which is arguably the most iconic piece of the song) was Nick's idea. Wil Malone composed the strings but the loop idea was all Nick.

During the Zenyatta Mondatta sessions Andy wrote the instrumental Behind My Camel, Sting hated it so much he buried the master tape on the studio's garden, much to Andy dismay, not only Sting but also Stewart and the producer hated the song only Andy wanted it on the album, but the song ended on the album somehow. In the end Andy got his revenge cos the song went on to win best instrumental rock song on Grammy awards that year.

Truthfully, I'm not sure I blame Sting for buring the Behind My Camel tape - have you heard Mother? An absolutely horrible song. I love The Police, though the reunion tours were a disappointment. Stewart is an amazing drummer.
Fave song: Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Stewart is an amazing drummer. Fave song: Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic Truth be told, Sting is a genious but also he can be a pain in the ass, the band wouldn't last that long, he wrote a great set of songs for Synchronicity, it made a huge success and those singles are all international hits, almost a perfect album sadly. The other two Andy and Stewart contributions however ruins the album a bit, subpar songs, Stewart wrote Miss Gradenko which is a throwaway at best, and Andy's Mother I don't even know if you could call it music, one of the oddest songs ever created, it is not even a proper song to begin with.

Thought it was generally seen as a great success, there was a video of Wrapped Around Your Finger from that tour, with Stewart Copeland absolutely owning it.
