I used to be a fan of the Foo Fighters I loved first 2 albums and There's Nothing Left to Lose is ok, but more teen crowd who watches TRL and listens to Ashlee simpson drew me away more and more... I never bought there last two albums. More and more I dive into Nirvana's media more I see Foos copies or borrows from Nirvana.. Concepts to vids one way or another referring to kurt or nirvana to some of their songs.. Dave seems want to draw to trl like crowd instead a general public like..
Also the Foo's first album rumors kurt helped a lot on the songs on it.. Orginally a lot of dave's songs were going on Nirvana's last record. I read somewhere that nirvana did Alone and Easy Target on soundcheck at the 09-16-91 in-store gig.
I still think Colour and Shape was there best album and it came out without trying be so pushed by main stream like. It just seemed more pure timeless appeal to everyone rock album than instead more main stream teen crowd.. I wasn't too pleased when Dave did Rolling Stone interview while back saying Kurt never really liked his drumming. Consider tons and tons of interviews of Kurt and Krist saying they think he was a perfect fit in the band.. Kurt and Dave lived together. Kurt compare him to John Bomhand(sp) with skills. I just felt Dave said that in Rolling Stones interview try to sell his new album...

I think they still had it, with some lows, up to Wasting Light, which as surprisingly great. After that they've definitely lost interest for me. But again, this happens with so many bands, even earlier in their careers...

Wasting Light (2011) was a good album but everything they've done since then has really missed mark for me. I liked 'The Feast or the Famine' (Sonic Highways - 2014), 'Run' (Concrete and Gold - 2017) and 'The Teacher' somewhat (But Here We Are - 2023) (I don't think this one doesn't justifies it's 10 minute run time) but that's it. Everything else I've listened to has felt mediocre at best.
I'm a big fan of the band's debut ('Good Grief' is my favourite Foo Fighters track), the much loved second album I think is very overrated but obviously has good moments and I like most of the singles (and one or two other tracks) between There's Nothing Left to Lose and Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace.
I'd much more excited to see Dave back behind the drums than I would as a front man or writing more songs. Give us Them Crooked Vultures II Dave!
10 Favourite Foo Fighters songs: - This Is A Call (Foo Fighters - 1995) - I'll Stick Around (Foo Fighters - 1995) - Alone + Easy Target (Foo Fighters - 1995) - Good Grief (Foo Fighters - 1995) - Exhausted (Foo Fighters - 1995) - Everlong (The Colour and the Shape - 1997) - All My Life (One by One - 2002) - Low (One by One - 2002) - The Pretender (Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace - 2007) - White Limo (Wasting Light - 2011)
