here is to the king of rock n roll ! Well, it’s one for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready, Now go, cat, go. But don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes. Well, you can knock me down, Step in my face, Slander my name All over the place. Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh, Honey, lay off of my shoes Don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes. You can burn my house, Steal my car, Drink my liquor From an old fruitjar. Do anything that you want to do, but uh-uh, Honey, lay off of my shoes Don’t you step on my blue suede shoes. You can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.

NICE PIC DIX ! GIRLS SCREAMING IN BACKGROUND AND FAINTING !! ONE OF MY FAVS HE DOES - GUITAR MAN ! Well I quit my job down at the car wash I left my mama a goodbye note. By sundown I'd left Kingston With my guitar under my coat. I hitch-hiked all the way down to Memphis Got a room at the Y.M.C.A. For the next three weeks I went a haunting them night clubs Looking for a place to play. Well I thought my picking would set 'em on fire But nobody wanted to hire a guitar man. Well I nearly 'bout starved to death down in Memphis I run out of money and luck. So I bummed me a ride down to Macon Georgia On a overloaded poultry truck. I Thumbed on down to Panama City Started pickin' out some of the all night bars Hopin' I can make myself a dollar Makin' music on my guitar. Got the same old story at them all night piers There ain't no room around here for a guitar man. We don't need a guitar man son. So I slept in the hobo jungles I bummed a thousand miles of track 'til I found myself in Mobile Alabama In a club they call "Big Jack's". A little four piece band was jamming So I took my guitar and I sat in. I showed 'em what a band would sound like With a swingin' little guitar man. Show 'em son. If you ever take a trip down to the ocean Find yourself down around Mobile. Well make it on out to the club called Jack's If you got a little time to kill. Just follow that crowd of people You'll wind up out on his dance floor Diggin' the finest little five piece group Up and down the Gulf of Mexico. And guess who's leading that five piece band Why wouldn't you know It's that swinging little guitar man.

A Little Less Conversation
A little less conversation, a little more action please All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby
Baby close your eyes and listen to the music Drifting through a summer breeze It's a groovy night and I can show you how to use it Come along with me and put your mind at ease
A little less conversation, a little more action please All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby
Come on baby I'm tired of talking Grab your coat and let's start walking Come on, come on Come on, come on Come on, come on Don't procrastinate, don't articulate Girl it's getting late, gettin' upset waitin' around
A little less conversation, a little more action please All this aggravation ain't satisfactioning me A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

LONG LONELY HIGHWAY - ELVIS
It's a long lonely highway when you're travellin' all alone And it's a mean old world when you got no-one to call your own And you pass through towns too small to even have a name, oh yes But you gotta keep on goin', on that road to nowhere Gotta keep on goin', though there's no-one to care Just keep movin' down the line
It's a long lonely highway without her by my side And it's a trail full of teardrops that keep on being cried My heart's so heavy it's a low down dirty shame oh yes You gotta keep on goin', on that road to nowhere Gotta keep on goin', though there's no-one to care Just keep movin' down the line
I gotta rock for my pillow 'neath a weeping willow And the cool grass for my bed My drinking water's muddy so don't you tell me buddy That I wouldn't be better off dead It's a long lonely highway gettin' longer all the time And if she don't come and get me Well, I'm gonna lose my mind So if you read about me tell her she's the one to blame, oh yes You gotta keep on goin', on that road to nowhere Gotta keep on goin', though there's no-one to care Just keep movin' down the line Movin' down the line Movin' down the line

For me ELVIS was just a performer for the Ladies to go nuts over. He was good looking and had the moves. From the words of Chuck D (Public Enemy)
"Elvis was a hero to most / But he never meant shit to me / Straight up racist that sucker was simple and plain / Motherfu$% him and John Wayne / Cause I'm black and I'm proud. / I'm ready and hyped plus I'm amped / Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamps."

Read the lyrics?
Elvis was a global hero in the world of music. I guess i dont see what all the fuss was about. Lyrics were always about love or relationships.

Read the lyrics? Elvis was a global hero in the world of music. I guess i dont see what all the fuss was about. Lyrics were always about love or relationships. uh.. he happened to be a white man that brought great music to the world.. .stuff we never heard and perhaps wld have only been received by the masses by elvis.. he was music, history, fashion, lots of things.. yes true he did liberate the ladies with his fine moves.. ~ now the last time i cked he was essentially responsible for rock n roll. he impacted the world..ie john lennon got into music after watching elvis on the telly.. they all did including bowie - the lot. list goes on.. ~ i recommend you watch a doc on him or book. he was mega ! ~ put his records on today and he is timeless. ~ lastly he is defo liam approved..

He also inspired Bod Dylan, so thanks a lot I would say. But all that impact, influence on contemporary music and sex revolution aside, I don't think he was a great artist. He didn't write most of his songs, certainly any of his hits. He was a great singer though and you can tell he was truly passionate for what he was doing. But all in all, he was just very lucky to be good looking, had a sex appeal and being surrounded by really talented people....or hitmakers.

Get Ya Hankies out girls!....its OLD SHEP! When I was a lad And Old Shep was a pup Over hills and meadows we'd stray Just a boy and his dog We were both full of fun We grew up together that way
I remember the time, at the old swimmin' hole When I would have drowned, beyond doubt Shep was right there, to the rescue he came He jumped in and then pulled me out
As the years fast did roll Old Shep he grew old His eyes were fast growing dim And one day the doctor looked at me and said "I can do no more for him, Jim"
With hands that were trembling I picked up my gun And aimed it at Shep's faithful head I just couldn't do it, I wanted to run I wished they would shoot me instead
He came to my side And looked up at me And laid his old head on my knee I stroked the best friend that a man ever had I cried so I scarcely could see
Old Shep he knew he was going to go For he reached out and licked at my hand He looked up at me just as much as to say We're parting, but you understand
Old Shep, he has gone Where the good doggies go And no more with Old Shep will I roam But if dogs have a heaven There's one thing I know Old Shep has a wonderful home

Well it is true he didn't right his music. However, it's all in his delivery. That is what makes Elvis the man. He is the man. Don't deny it. Go listen to From Elvis in Memphis and his Sun Records stuff. And if you don't like it...break the cd and then cut yourself with it.
Please, I jest.

Have to disagree here Tam. He was NO WAY responsible for rock n roll.
Elvis was a maufactured artist. The music he was playing was being nade 15 years ago by black artists on the mississipi (or howver u spell it).
They needed a white man to perform these tunes to America as Black Men wouldnt get a look in. He was made famous over night.
He never wrote any of his tunes, so i lost more respect for him after i found that out too.

it's disappointing to think that such a highly regarded artist never actually wrote his own songs but he inspired Lennon so thats pretty dam cool!
