I think you're the first person I've seen who has Valtari as the best Sigur Ros album Not having a go - it deserves more love, and who doesn't like to be steamrolled? Haha, I admit it is a bit unusual, and it's a really difficult one as I don't think there has ever been a band who release albums that are so consistent in quality. Likewise with many of my favourite artists, the 'best' album alternates from day to day, but Valtari has more of a nostalgic tinge to it. There's some films, books or pieces of music that resonate more immediately than others. I was already very familiar with Sigur Ros's music, but I guess that album resonates emotionally as to where I was when I first came upon it. Sometimes albums when you first hear them just align perfectly with the person you are at a specific moment in time, and I guess Valtari is one of those albums. Makes perfect sense, the fact that this is considered one of the weaker Sigur Ros albums shows just how amazing they are. Varuo and Eg Anda are my favourites here.

Hmm, not sure about Lullabies as I'd say it's on of their worst but you might be right about ...Like Clockwork. It's probably the softest so maybe the easiest to get into. Nick Oliveri only sings on a couple of songs on Songs for the Deaf anyway doesn't he? I suppose there's Mark Lanegan on there too. I would say Lullabies is the best up to Someone's in the Wolf but after that it dives. Diferent singers on QOTSA albums SFTD Millionaire, Another Love Song, Six Shooters, Song for the Dead LtP This Lullaby And I cant remember. I wouldn't go as far to say it's their best up to Someone's in the Wolf but you could quite easily cut all the songs after it. If they'd got rid of all of them and put Infinity or The Fun Machine Took A Shit and Died on there (I know they lost tapes for it so couldn't) it would have been up there with Songs for the Deaf for me.

The Stone Roses Definitely Maybe Revolver Nevermind Illmatic I love illmatic but I always preferred It Was Written Both great, but illmatic has that laid back production to it, not too much overdub.
