Will people try to compare the groups and have them competing in popularity by sales and song or will people embrace them both and enjoy them for who they are?
I am sure some in the press will make it a sales competition, and since Coldplay is much more recent of a band (especially in the U.S. where bands over 5-6 years old are forgotten for something 'new', they will probably point out the sales and chart ranking (which I am sure Coldplay will win in the states) as a 'loss' for Oasis.
The problem w/ the US charts is that no one here buys singles. Singles are usually 'radio' singles and the success of them keys the sales of an album. If Oasis has a fantastic single that U.S. airwaves likes, plus a video that gets played (VH1 most likely), then the album will sell.
Also, will they get promoted over here? Coldplay are the adult music darlings here, specially since Martin married Paltrow.
Oasis get lumped in with these 90's nostalgia shows and the last two albums have gotten almost no airplay.
The thing I am interested in is will they still rule the UK?
