I wouldn't go so far as to say it wouldn't be Oasis but the band gets most of its personality from Liam so without him it would get boring with just Noel and the new guys. It's not all about Noel.
They wouldn't be seen as equal to the Beatles. I think in Liam's case it would have been more like when Keith Moon or Jim Morrison died. For him and Cobain to have died young within a few years of each other, I think they'd have been remembered on a somewhat similar level but obviously for different reasons.

me, i love liams tantrums!
sure he is a dickhead and probably a bit thick but he is a great voice when he wants to be and the finest front man in 20 odd years of british rock n roll!
and if you doubt him then just listen to "scorpio rising" which proves to me that he has the best voice of this generation.
oasis are liam and noel.

Oasis as a group is Liam and Noel I agree with that. My point was that when you put them in the light as compared to Lennon & Mcarney it is hard to compare when Liam's track record is not even close to what Lennon achieved in songwriting. Sure Liam is one of the best frontmen in the world, and his voice is eerily like John's . When it comes to comparisons though I want to see what Laim could do that's all. I am looking forward to what he could do, it is too bad it took this long for him to mature as a songwriter. Noel carried the group for a long way in songwriting. This new effort will be awesome with all of them contributing. Kurt wrote 95% of his songs and sang them as well, when he died it was over. I think Oasis could carry on without Liam but I do agree that it would not be the same and That it could get boring with just Noel singing. One complements the other. So I do take that back that it is all about Noel. When it comes to songwriting it is hard to compare but as a group they need to be together to make it work.

Bruv dug up a 20 year old thread to remind us that Charles Barkley was a terrible rhythm guitar player

I never feel more like an elitist when I point out the obvious fact that In Utero is miles better than Nevermind.

I would not go that far it is all about Noel, if he died then their would be some legend to the band, if Liam died it would be more like AC DC they would just replace him or Noel would just carry on a solo career. Liam does not have near the credibility of John or Paul or George or Ringo for that matter. He has never had his own number one album, he has only written a handful of songs that have gotten minimum recognition. He completelty tarnished Oasis's image in the states and in England in the past and gave Oasis a bad name to begin with with his pompas attitude. The states have not yet forgiven them for their attitiude since 1994. Especially when the coward bailed on the MTV unplugged at last minute only to reveal what Oasis really was..... Noel Gallagher. The show went on that night (the best concert Oasis has ever recorded) and it will prosper after Liams death no problem. All true fans know what Noel's role is in the band and Just like Kurt... he is the band. When Kurt died it was over, when Noel dies it is over as well. Please don't give me a story that Liam has any legendary statuus accept for working with the best songwiter around today. That's about it, ... sure he is a talented singer, sure he is coming along as a song writer, let's let him grow as a true musician before we raise any steeples. It is so nice to pretend that there is a Beatles still, truth is only one has earned the right to be mentioned in the same sentence, Noel Gallagher. Well at least he got to tick that one off the list...

I never feel more like an elitist when I point out the obvious fact that In Utero is miles better than Nevermind. But it's true Also, that album has some really cool guitar playing. People dont need to shred to be good Cobain had a pretty odd sense of melody With his guitar playing and I thought his guitar playing was taking a cool direction on that album. Far more creative than anything Noel Gallagher has done with a guitar at least. I always wondered if the Shakermaker opening guitar riff was inspired by Serve The Servants. Noel openly says he was a fan of them.

I love that album Now how many times can you keep remastering albums? We already had a super deluxe edition... I know it all makes money and that's the objective, same with The Beatles stuff but great versions of the albums already exist! I've just never liked when labels keep re-releasing the same album multiple times and just stick some live concert on as bonus tracks. Leave them in the past, they were great albums first time around, that's the version.

This remix is going to be done with Jack Endino. Also, the live shows... Always the live shows

Not remixed, going by the article at least.

He's a top guy, obviously incredible at his job and surprising reasonable cost to record with him, compared to other big name producers.
