taken from NME... THE LIBERTINES played what is likely to be their last ever show in PARIS last night (December 17). The band played an hour-long set in front of a 350-strong crowd competition winners at Studio 287 in northern Paris. RID OF HER? PJ HARVEY sensationally revealed onstage in PARIS last night (December 17) that she is quitting playing live. The star was performing in front of 350 competition winners at Studio 287 in northern France when she announced: "This is the last show I will ever play." I hope Oasis will NEVER play in this venue... it seems to be the last gig venue

Libertine In Tumour Operation Scare
A tabloid newspaper has revealed today that Libertines frontman Carl Barat is to undergo surgery to remove a tumour that is behind his ear. One result of the operation is that Barat will not be allowed to listen to loud music until he recovers.
The Sun reports that the tumour is behind Barat’s ear with doctors insisting it be removed immediately. He will have to take at least two months off in order to return to full health.
A source told The Sun, "Fortunately it's not too serious health-wise - but Carl's definitely not had the best of luck. He's been booked into surgery later this month. The operation will remove the benign lump and Carl must rest up for a couple of months."
One of the reasons that Barat gave for splitting The Libertines late last year was, "An ongoing problem with my health, which requires an operation".
