I just got downloaded from iTunes some of the tracks off of the new Verve greatest hits album ("The Verve: This is Music"). I already own A Northern Soul and Urban Hymns.
It's ironic b/c I love Oasis' Slide Away (obvious by my choice of name). Now I love the Verve's Slide Away as well, off of their first album.
Is there a connection between the two Slide Aways? I know that Richard Ashcroft and Noel Gallagher have been close and Oasis and The Verve were big fans of each others. Did Noel get his inspiration for DM's Slide Away from the Verve song? Or was it just coincidence?

I think that it's just coincidence
But... slide away is one of the best songs of a storm in heaven... slide away and blue too

i don't think it would to too outlandish to say he may of got the title for the verve. all possibilities. Or the fact the first two words are slide away. And then repeated later on in the song a few times
