Only right cos is it me or are the Libertines becoming less about the music and more about the soap opera that is mr smackhead fuckup Doherty?(which is exactly what Johnny Rotten also said about the pistols and Sid). I am a fan of the Libertines and think they could become one of britains premier bands but unlike others i cannot stand Pete Doherty while he act's like he is doing!(Maybe its because my old best mate  has gone down for 4 years cos of smack, why anyone does the shit is beyond me  ) cheers doggboy10 |

totally agree with you mate!
Doherty is throwing away the strummer/jones lennon/mccartney of this decade for a sordid little drug habit.
carl barat has been more than fair to the guy and has had it thrown right back in his face.

Hope the drummer does well out of the split, fuckin amazing drummer he is. Definitely the best thing in a mediocre band

sorry jay jay. you just hav'nt taken the time to listen to that band properly!
remember when the roses threw it all away and we have had to listen to "how great they could have been" shit to this day.
well, that is the libertines ten times bigger.
i cant be arsed with that shite, i want to see the band live and listen to their music.
judging by the rough sessions, there is a wealth of classic great songs to come.
i dont want to lose them. they are the best band britain has produced since oasis.

He's had that band for ages, they are called Babyshambles And for thebeerbaron, ive got their 2 albums, 2 of their live gigs, ive seen them twice, once with Pete back in 2002 and last summer without Pete. They are a slightly above average band, they will not be remembered for their music, oh no, it will be for the twat that is Pete Doherty. Did you see him on Tim Lovejoy on SkyOne during the week, off his fuckin face. Yeah, hes really making an effort to get clean, hes a twat plain and simple. And dont bring The Roses into this, because they are ten times the band The Lib's will ever be, Squire and Brown had written more good songs before they were famous than Barrett and Doherty have ever done. |

bollocks jayjay.
the roses had a great lineup and a few great songs. the libertines have a wealth of truly great songs. many more great songs than the roses could have ever prayed for.
i envy you for seeing the libertines two times live. it must be like an old hippy seeing the sex pistols and not seeing the greatness that is in the band.
anyway, the roses legend is better than their music.
the libertines are better!

The Roses first album has more classic and legendary (and yes better) songs than The Libertines will ever ever have. They are a decent enough pop band though i suppose

the libertines aren't in the same league as the roses. Ian browns solo carear is better then the libertines. The libertines are a good band but the roses are one of the best bands ever, simple as.

both great, both massively different. Libs are fucking amazing though I prefer the roses, and Browny himself loves 'em, as does Noel.....

they're are a great band, and its frustrating because i just got into them recently. i dunno about all the soap opera stuff, but i get the gist of it over the internet...but yeah, i love their sound, great songs. pooh, hope they pull it together!
